Nurses attitudes and role in active euthanasia and assisted suicide and factors affecting them

Abstact This research is theoretical literature review which aim is to describe nurses attitudes, factors affecting them and nurses role in active euthanasia and assisted suicide based on previous studies to raise knowledge of Estonian nurses in this area. This could help nurses to form their own attitudes towards active euthanasia and assisted suicide. It gives overview of factors which affect nurses’ attitudes towards active euthanasia and assisted suicide. This topic is actual in the world and many countries have already been investigating this subject, but in Estonia, nurses have not been investigated in this topic. In this research literary sources are published in 2007-2017. Due to the elaborated articles and the aim of the study, there can be made the conclusion that nurses attitudes towards active euthanasia and assisted suicide are very different. The main factors affecting nurses opinions about active euthanasia and assisted suicide is workplace, religion, gender and marital status.
