Down to Earth ihren Arbeiten, die von Meereslebewesen, Biologie, Sexualität und Reproduktion, Ernährung und Ökologie gleichermaßen inspiriert sind, regt sie einen Perspektivwechsel an, indem sie den Fokus weg vom Menschen und hin zur gesamten Ökologie verlagert. Im Rahmen von „Down to Earth“ ist Anne Duk Hee Jordans fortlaufende Serie „Into the Wild“ auf dem Südplatz hinter dem Gropius Bau zu erleben. Die über 60 Meter lange, essbare Tischlandschaft ist prozesshafte Installation und künstlerisches Dinner zugleich. Die Künstlerin wird die Besucher*innen zu einem gemeinsamen Mahl einladen und Fragen nach der Ökologie von Lebensmitteln und zukünftigen Ernährungsweisen stellen: What would a recipe based on the “Cyborg Manifesto” by Donna Haraway taste like? The mechanical sculptures and immersive landscapes by Berlin-based artist Anne Duk Hee Jordan are intended to sharpen the viewer’s scrutiny of the present and open up a dialogue between natural phenomena, philosophy and art. In her works, which are inspired equally by sea creatures, biology, sexuality and reproduction, nutrition and ecology, she provokes a change of perspective that shifts focus from human beings to ecology as a whole. As part of “Down to Earth” Anne Duk Hee Jordan’s ongoing series “Into the Wild” will be presented on the Südplatz to the rear of the Gropius Bau. This edible table landscape, over 60 metres in length, is both a process-based installation and at the same time an artistic dinner. Here the artist will invite the visitors to a shared meal and ask questions about the ecology of food and future means of nutrition: What would a recipe based on the “Cyborg Manifesto” by Donna Haraway taste like?
Alicja Alicja Kwade lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. In ihren Werken erforscht Kwade und hinterfragt sie die Beschaffenheit von Realität und Gesellschaft und reflektiert unsere alltäglichen Wahrnehmungsgewohnheiten. Kwades vielfältige Praxis stützt sich auf Konzepte von Raum, Zeit, Philosophie und Wissenschaft und nimmt in skulpturalen Objekten, öffentlichen Installationen, Videos und Fotografien Gestalt an. Bei „Down to Earth“ sind ihre Skulptur „TransForm“ (2019) und ihre Rauminstallation „Gegebenenfalls die Wirklichkeit“ (2017) zu sehen. Letztere ist eine zwischen natürlicher und technologischer Form verharrende Skulptur, die durch den unterbrochenen Prozess der Herstellung einer exakten Kopie eines „realen“ Steins entstand. Die Datenblätter, Ergebnis der Oberflächenvermessung des Steins mittels eines 3D-Scanners, bedecken die Wände des Ausstellungsraums. Alicja Kwade lives and works in Berlin.
