Down to Earth Die Aktivitäten des Netzwerks kulminierten 2015 in dem Bau des ersten genehmigten Earthships in Deutschland im Gemeinschaftsdorf Schloss Tempelhof in Baden-Württemberg. Es folgten die Gründung des kreativen und kollaborativen Experimentierraums „Wir bauen Zukunft“ sowie der Agentur „down2earth“, in deren Rahmen Farkas in den letzten Jahren Seminare zu Tiny Häusern an der TU Berlin organisierte. Farkas war außerdem beim Bau von Superadobe Domen beteiligt und hat mehrere Holzbauten entworfen, darunter Pavillons, Spielplätze, Einfriedungen und Geodätische Dome. After graduating from the Earthship Academy in the USA in 2013, Henry Farkas founded the Earthship Germany Network together with two friends and began to organise workshops and seminars on self-sufficient earth mound housing. The network’s activities culminated in the construction of the first approved earthship in Germany in 2015 at the community village Schloss Tempelhof in Baden-Württemberg. This was followed by the foundation of the creative and collaborative experimental space “Wir bauen Zukunft” and the agency “down2earth”. Under its umbrella, Farkas has organised seminars at the TU Berlin on tiny houses. Farkas has also been involved in constructing Superadobe domes and has designed a number of wooden structures including pavilions, playgrounds, stockades and geodesic domes.
Andreas Andreas Frädrich ist Pflanzen-Szenograf, Utopist und LandschaftsFrädrich gärtner. Er wurde 2015 als „Pflanzenretter“ deutschlandweit bekannt. Frädrich hat Fernsehserien, Kunstprojekte und Eventlocations gärtnerisch betreut und in den letzten zwei Jahren wiedereinpflanzbare Weihnachtsbäume in Berlin vermietet, woraus ein neuer Nadelwald entstand. Frädrich ist auch Meeresgärtner: Er entwickelt den Hanging Garden in Den Haag, meterhoch über der Nordsee schwebend, betreibt Deutschlands einzige Meeresgärtnerei auf Sylt sowie den urbanen Meeresdachgarten (eine versetzte Salzwiesenlandschaft) in Berlin-Lichterfelde. Frädrichs Arbeit schafft „bewegte Landschaften“, die er in temporären oder dauerhaften „Pflanzen-Holodecks“ realisiert, denn auch Pflanzen müssen ihm zufolge klimabedingt mobiler werden. Andreas Frädrich is a plant scenographer, utopian and landscape gardener. He became known throughout Germany in 2015 as the “plant saviour”. Frädrich has been in charge of gardening for television series, art projects and event locations and, over the past two years, has rented out replantable Christmas trees in Berlin, resulting in a new coniferous forest. Frädrich is also a sea gardener: in The Hague he is developing the Hanging Garden, hovering metres high over the North Sea; he runs Germany’s only sea garden on Sylt; and he is the operator of the urban sea roof garden (an offset salt marsh landscape) in Berlin-Lichterfelde. Frädrich’s work creates “moving landscapes”, which he realizes in temporary or permanent “plant holodecks”, because he believes that plants, too, must become more mobile due to changing climate conditions.
