En la edición de El Periódico de Sotogrande que sostiene sobre sus manos, la primera del mes de junio, perteneciente a esa primera quincena, además de ser el inicio del trepidante reto de publicaciones quincenales durante toda la temporada alta [más de siete ediciones en verano]; cuenta con numerosos indicios y adelantos sobre lo que será la campaña turística 2023.

Sólo hace falta echar rato de conversación con cualquiera de los directores de hoteles de la zona, nosotros lo hacemos muy a menudo igual que con otros sectores, para conocer que el volumen de ocupación y reservas está por las nubes desde hace semanas para los ‘findes’ y puentes; y que las ocupaciones para el meses de julio y agosto están más que definidas.

Publicamos varios informes sobre los datos que manejamos de turismo y son más que expeditivos y optimistas para nuevas cifras de récord pero Sotogrande es un lugar muy especial y el turismo, entendido a modo local, no es lo que se presupone de otros destinos. Aquí el turismo viene a sumar a la masa que ya existe; a una comunidad asentada, cada vez mayor y que disfruta de un nivel de servicios muy alto y exquisito.

Por ello, bien entendido, el turismo es muy importante para esta zona como para tantas otras; siempre y cuando se siga gestionando como un complemento y una suma de enteros a lo que ya hay y a lo que necesita; por lo tanto, no excederse en lo que es prescindible. Feliz temporada a todos los sectores y especialmente a todos los generadores de eventos y actividades, aquí estaremos para contar todo y más, un verano más y ya van 25, no lo olviden.

La última carta editorial de la pasada edición se titulaba: “Entre rebujito y urnas electorales”, en relación a la coincidencia de los comicios electorales, costumbristamente alojados en el cuarto fin de semana de mayo, con infinidad de ferias andaluzas y especialmente con nuestra querida y devocional Romería de la Virgen del Rocío. Cuando parecía que lo habíamos visto todo, en un lunes de resaca electoral y de valoraciones, descubríamos el mandato de unas nuevas Elecciones Generales el próximo 23 de julio. Una fecha igual de confusa, compleja, en periodo vacacional y festiva, como puente largo por Santiago, en más de una comunidad autónoma en nuestro país.

Lejos de un detenido y exhaustivo análisis de macro política, si está bien claro que esta decisión presidencial el tiempo dirá si supone una genialidad o una locura. A muchos el verano nos pilla trabajando igual o más que en otras temporadas pero inevitablemente, veremos como se vuelve a batir el récord en España, especialmente en Andalucía, sobre el voto por correo. También empiezan a aparecer ya las primeras consecuencias y colectivos demandando que la mayoría de los colegios electorales no están preparados para soportar largas jornadas a finales de julio [climatización, etc.]. Veremos cómo acaba todo, esperemos que con un proyecto positivo de desarrollo y crecimiento económico. En cuanto a la micro política, las cosas están bastante claras en el Campo de Gibraltar, a excepción de los entes intermunicipales. Hasta seis mayorías absolutas se han contrastado en la Comarca y quitando los casos de Tarifa y Los Barrios [pendientes de pacto al cierre de esta edición]; el resto está, como se suele decir ‘todo el pescado vendido’. Aquí en San Roque, se mantuvo con fuerza e incluso incrementó un edil, la propuesta continuista de Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix que suma una nueva mayoría absoluta.

Dónde sí queda mucho ver, por decir y por decidir es en Mancomunidad y Diputación de Cádiz. Una vez más, en esta ocasión con mayor firmeza y enteros, la llave la tendrá nuestro vecino Juan Franco, el alcalde más votado y con mayor respaldo porcentual de apoyos de toda España. El primer edil linense tiene el poder de negociar y decidir quién regirá los máximos entes a nivel provincial y comarcal. Veremos si reedita los últimos acuerdos y opta por nuevos socios y la alternancia en el poder. Seguiremos muy de cerca todos estos detalles; y esperamos, como bien conoce y pelea siempre el bueno de Juan Franco, su incesante lucha por primar los intereses de su localidad y por ende del Campo de Gibraltar.

The last editorial letter in the previous edition was entitled: “Between rebujito cocktails and election ballots”, in relation to the elections, which typically fll in the fourth weekend of May, coinciding with endless Andalusian fairs and esspecially with our beloved and devotional Pilgrimage of the Virgin of Rocío. When it appeared that we had seen everything, on a Monday of electoral hangover and assessments, we discovered the mandare for new General Elections on 23 July. A date that is equally confusing, complex, during the holiday period and festive, due to the long weekend for Santiago, in more than one autonomous community in our country.

Far from being a rigorous and exhaustive macro political analysis, it is very clear that time will tell if this presidential decision is an amazing decision or madness. Summer finds many of us working just as much or more than in other seasons but inevitably, we will see how the record is beaten again in Spain, especially in Andalusia, for postal voting. Also beginning to apppear are the first consequences and groups claiming that most polling stations are not prepared to withstand long days at the end of July (air conditioning, etc.). With regardo to micro politics, things are quite clear in Campo de Gibraltar, except for the intermunicipal bodies. There have been six absolute majorities in the Province and aside from the cases of Tarifa and Los Barrios (as this edition waits to close); the rest, as is normally said, is “an open and shut matter”. Here in San Roque, the continuity proposal of Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix was maintained and even increased, adding a new absolute majority. Where there is a lot of see, to say and to be decided is in the Association of Municipalities and the Council of Cádiz. Once again, on this occasion with greater strength and wholeness, the key will be held by our resident Juan Franco, the most voted mayor and with the hgihest perentage of support in all of Spain. The mayor of La Línea has the power to negotiate and decide who will govern the leading bodies at a provincial and regional level. We will see if he retains the last agreements and opts for new partners and an alternation in power. We will follow all of these details very closely; and we hope, as Juan Franco knows very well and always contests, that he will continue his incessant fight to prioritise the interests of his town, and by extension, of Campo de Gibraltar.

El precio del alquiler en Andalucía sube un 6,44% frente al año pasado

Sigue al alza el sector inmobiliario y con mayor crecimiento aún, en el departamento y área de alquileres; algo que prácticamente ya se encuentra sin stock en Sotogrande, según fuentes especializadas. El piso tipo de alquiler en Andalucía esta supuso una variación mensual del 1,28%, respecto a abril de 2022, creció un 6,44%, la quinta subida nacional más elevada.

Andalucía fue la octava autonomía con la mensualidad más cara para los inquilinos, por detrás de Baleares, entre otras. Por su parte, el piso de alquiler en España tuvo en abril una subida intermensual del 1,13% y un incremento del 5,51%, especto al pasado año según el portal Pisos.

Respecto a las provincias andaluzas, Sevilla (2,15%) arrojó el repunte mensual más importante de la región. Por su

parte, Córdoba (-0,86%) fue la única que bajó de la autonomía. De un año a otro, Málaga (27,55%) registró la segunda mayor subida de

España, y Sevilla (-2,11%) fue la que más cayó de Andalucía.

En cuanto a las capitales an-

daluzas, Jaén (3,03%) fue la capital española que más creció frente a marzo. Granada (-2,03%) arrojó la quinta caída más intensa de España.

Interanualmente, todas las capitales españolas crecieron. Málaga (21,77%) fue la cuarta capital que más se incrementó del país.

Otra vez, a votar

Dicen que la historia se repite, pero lo de las próximas elecciones generales es nuevo: nunca habíamos votado en España en el mes de julio. Sí lo hicimos en verano, en dos ocasiones, el 22 de junio de 1986 y el 26 de junio de 2016, pero ello no nos da muchas pistas sobre lo que puede pasar, porque la primera vez ganó el PSOE de Felipe González y la segunda el PP de Mariano Rajoy. La peculiaridad de 2023 es que las elecciones generales han sido convocadas para poco después de unas municipales y autonómicas en las que el partido de Gobierno, o más bien la coalición de Gobierno, que eso

también es original en España, ha sufrido una derrota importante. En caso contrario, a Pedro Sánchez no se le habría ocurrido anticipar los comicios.

Además, aquí llueve sobre mojado, porque la derrota de la izquierda y de la extrema izquierda el 28 de mayo, con la excepción de Bildu en el País Vasco y Navarra, viene tras una sucesión de retrocesos electorales, el más importante de los cuales se produjo aquí, en Andalucía, con un cambio de rumbo que acabó con cuatro décadas de dominio socialista en esta autonomía. Dicha tendencia, por cierto, se ha profundizado en las muni-

cipales en nuestra comunidad, de tal manera que la federación andaluza es ahora la más importante del PP, como lo fue durante muchos años la del PSOE. Quizá la predicción más sencilla sería la del fortalecimiento del bipartidismo, por la desaparición de Ciudadanos y la grave derrota que sufrió Unidas Podemos en varios lugares de España, empezando por Madrid. Asimismo, como apuntó Carlos Sánchez en El Confidencial, la demografía jugará a favor del PP y el PSOE, cuyos votantes tienden a ser de una edad relativamente mayor, se abstienen menos, y también –asunto importante en este

caso– se van menos de vacaciones. El bipartidismo, y la cercanía de las elecciones, pueden acentuar la habitual simplificación de los mensajes políticos, eludiendo los

asuntos serios. En tal caso, habrá que recordar la frase de Marx: la historia se repite por segunda vez como farsa.

Los establecimientos hoteleros de la provincia de Cádiz han recibido entre enero y abril de 2023 un 23% más de turistas que en el mismo periodo de 2022. Es la principal conclusión que se extrae del Informe de Coyuntura Turística Hotelera que elabora mensualmente el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y que se ha hecho público esta mañana.

Las pernoctaciones del primer cuatrimestre también han experimentado una fuerte subida, ascendiendo a 1.564.988 en lo que llevamos de 2023, lo que supone un 20,37% más que en el mismo periodo de 2022.

José María Román, vicepresidente primero de la Diputación Provincial de Cádiz y diputado de turismo, ha dado valor a estos datos “sobre todo si tenemos en cuenta

que aún estamos en temporada baja. La ocupación media ha sido del 38,68%, un porcentaje muy positivo para estas fechas”.

En estos primeros cuatro meses del año la oferta hotelera de la provincia asciende a 31.598 plazas, una cifra que irá aumentando conforme se acerque el verano.

Para el diputado es también reseñable el personal empleado por los hoteles de la provincia, que también ha aumentado con respecto al primer cuatrimestre de 2022, concretamente un 17,37%.

Un mes de abril muy positivo

Las cifras del mes de abril de 2023 también han sido por sí solas muy positivas con respecto a 2022. Hay que tener en cuenta que tanto la Semana Santa de 2023 como la

de 2022 cayeron en este mes, por lo que en esta ocasión los periodos sí son comparables, cosa que no ocurre cuando la Semana Santa cae en un mes distinto en un año y en otro.

Los hoteles de la provincia han registrado 292.272 turistas en abril de este año, por los 240.758 del año pasado. De cada tres turistas alojados en la provincia dos han sido españoles.

En cuanto a pernoctaciones, abril de 2023 ha marcado 110.000 más que abril de 2022. Siendo 731.380 las de este año y 621.948 las del año pasado.

Esta demanda se ha visto reflejada en el empleo. En abril de este año los establecimientos hoteleros de la provincia han dado empleo a 900 personas más que abril del pasado año.

Sushi Masterclass by Kabanoki –18 June

It is taking place at the spectacular space of The Beach, between 11:00 and 13:00, for a registration fee of only 55 Euros per person which includes the training, tasting and drinks.

After an introduction on the preparation of rice and the side dishes, students will practice the preparation of fillings and rolling techniques for Futomakis, Uramakis and the kneading of nigiris. The workshop includes the teaching time, goods and equipment (mats and knives). The minimum number of people for the workshop is fifteen and it lasts for around 90 minutes (it includes a recipe book for preparing rice and the accompanying sauces).

A unique camp for children aged 6 to 12. Gastronomic journeys at The Beach

2023 will mark a new journey to different parts of the world without leaving The Beach La Reserva Club as there will be several Gastronomic Journeys such as an Asian Market and an Italian Experience. There will also be opportunities during the entire summer to enjoy the chef’s kitchen with Michelin Stars from different places around the world. Dates:

On 15 July and 26 August, the chef Nico Isnard, from restaurant Auberge de la Charme (France) (1 Michelin Star) will cook a tasting menu alongside the team of The Beach. We will enjoy a night at The Beach alongside this chef who, 8 months after moving to Prenois, won a Michelin Star alongside David Le Comte. Curious, ambitious and audacious, whose journeys help him to build a unique brand where the quality of the produce take precedence and where the flavour takes on meaning.

On 29 July, the chef will be Fernando Villasclaras of Restaurante Lago Marbella (Spain) (1 Michelin Star). The cuisine of Restaurante Lago is focused on the local produce of Coín, Nerja, and Marbella, therefore the chef will bring the delicacies of the Costa del Sol to The Beach.

Tiago Bonito has gradually established himself as one of the most outstanding chefs in Portuguese gastronomy. Ocho de cada diez españoles viajarán durante sus vacaciones este verano

El verano de 2023 va a suponer no solo la confirmación de la recuperación del turismo y las ganas de viajar a cualquier lugar del mundo sin restricciones, sino un aumento de los viajes con respecto a 2019, el año anterior a la pandemia, y es que, según un reciente estudio del potente buscador de vuelos y hoteles [Jetcost], un 83 % de los españoles tienen pensado viajar durante sus vacaciones este verano, además las búsquedas de vuelos han aumentado en un 25%, mien-

tras que las de hoteles en un 37% con respecto al verano de 2022.

Este estudio tiene el objetivo de conocer las perspectivas de vacaciones de los españoles durante el verano de 2023.

Y la primera conclusión es que, a pesar de la subida de los precios y de la situación económica a nivel nacional, la mayoría de los españoles (83%) tienen claro que disfrutarán viajando unos días de vacaciones, mientras que el 8% está esperando a última

hora para decidirse, dependiendo fundamentalmente del presupuesto que tengan. Eso sí, casi uno de cada diez (9%), no van a ir a ningún sitio. En cuanto a los meses favoritos para viajar, julio ha desplazado a agosto como el mes elegido para viajar en las vacaciones y es que, un 40% de los españoles se irán de viaje ese mes mientras que un 35% lo harán en agosto. Junio también se muestra cómo un mes que cada vez va teniendo más adeptos, un

14% viajarán ese mes mientras que solo un 10% lo harán en septiembre. Con respecto a la duración del viaje, un 32% tiene planeado desplazarse un máximo de 5 días. Un 27% una semana, un 25% entre 8 y 15 días, y, solo un 17% entre quince días y un mes. Y en lo que se refiere al gasto, la media por persona es de 1.085 euros.

La familia es la opción elegida por algo más de la mitad de los encuestados (51%), por

delante de viajar en pareja (22%), con amigos (18%) o solos (9%). En lo referente a los destinos, los nacionales parecen ser los favoritos para casi siete de cada diez (66%) españoles, que los eligen por delante de los internacionales (19%), mientras que un 15% combinarán ambos. Y cómo no, los preferidos son aquellos con sol y playa (61%), seguidos por las grandes ciudades (26%), y los destinos de interior y montaña (13%).

Eight out of every ten Spaniards will travel during holidays this summer

The summer of 2023 will not only provide confirmation of tourism recovery and the desire to travel anywhere in the world without restrictions, but also an increase in travel compared to 2019, the year before the pandemic, and the fact is that, according to a recent study by the powerful flight and hotel search engine [Jetcost], 83% of Spaniards have considered travelling during holidays this summer, also, flight searches have increased by 25%, while those for hotels have risen by 37%, compared to the summer of 2022.

This study is aimed at discovering the holiday prospects of Spaniards during the summer of 2023. And the first conclusion is that, despite the rise in prices and the economic situation nationwide, most Spaniards (83%) are clear that they will enjoy some holidays travelling while 8% are waiting to the last moment to decide, essentially depending on the budge they have. Having said that, almost one in ten (9%) are not going anywhere.

With regard to the favourite months for travel, July has displaced August as the most chosen month for going on holidays and the fact is that 40% of Spaniards will travel during this month while 35% will do so during August. June is also emerging as a month with an increasing number of fans, 14% will travel during that month while only 10% will do so in September.

With regard to the duration of the trip, 32% have planned to travel for a maximum of 5 days. 27% will go for a week, 25% for between 8 and 15 days, and only 17% for between fifteen days and a month.

And with regard to expense, the average per person is 1,085 Euros. Family is the option chosen by over half of those surveyed (51%), heading of travelling with their partner (22%), with friends (18%) or alone (9%). With regard to destinations, national locations seem to be the favourites for almost seven out of every ten (66%) Spaniards, who choose them ahead of international destinations (19%), while 15% will combine both. And of course, the favourites are those with sun and sea (61%), followed by big cities (26%), and inland and mountain destinations (13%).

Ana, la frutera del Valle del Guadiaro

- Las naranjas Del Valle del Guadiaro se terminaron.

Esto me decía hace un rato Ana, la señora que atiende el puesto de fruta junto a la carretera que va hacia Torreguadiaro, enfrente de la gasolinera de CEPSA.

- ¿Y estas?, pregunto.

- Estas son de África; de Sudáfrica para ser exacta. Las de zumo son las del final, las pequeñas. Así que lleno la bolsa que me ofrece, algo más de cuatro kilos. Al llevársela para pesar y pagar, se me escapa un bostezo.

- Hay sueño, ¿verdad? -me dice- Tampoco he pegado ojo yo esta noche. Por la niña.

- Ya echará siesta. ¿La niña? ¿Qué edad tiene la peque?

- Uf, la peque... tiene ya 39 años, pero ni habla ni anda ni nada; tiene parálisis cerebral. Ya sabe, de los fórceps cuando me la sacaron... ¿No lo sabía usted, que tengo una hija con parálisis cerebral?... Y siesta… dígame usted, si tengo que abrir a las nueve o antes y no cierro hasta las nueve o después. No, no sabía lo de la niña, pero le he dejado que me contara algo más de ella, porque no había más clientes que yo y ella quería, creo, hablar de su pena. De su niña. Y me he vuelto a casa, con mi pena por su pena, con el corazón un poco encogido y bendiciendo al cielo por la suerte que nos ha dado. Desde aquel día, siempre que necesitamos fruta en casa vamos a donde Ana. Aunque tengamos que hacer compra más general en uno de los supermercados de la zona, la fruta siempre la compramos antes, o la dejamos para después, en donde Ana. Siempre está abierto su puesto, sea domingo o sea navidad, desde temprano por la mañana hasta las nueve o diez de la noche. Y el puesto no es chico. Fuera de él tiene docenas y docenas de cajas con toda la mercancía clasificada y ordenada.

- ¿Y todo esto, lo saca y lo mete usted cada día? ¡Vaya trabajera!

- No lo sabe usted bien; pero mi otra hija suele ayudarme y todos los días vienen también unos chicos que hacen casi todo.

Y siempre que voy, tras el saludo de rigor y la alusión al poniente o al levante, al frío o al calor para darle excusa, dejo que ella me cuente de sus dolores de espalda, de sus inflamaciones de piernas, que no la dejan vivir, de su cansancio…, de su hija. Yo le cuento algún chascarrillo, alguna anécdota y la hago reír. Y luego, aprovechando cualquier palabra que me recuerde a un canto, me pongo a cantar. Y ella, si conoce la canción, me acompaña.

Mientras hablamos de esto y de lo otro, cojo una bolsita de plástico, de esas que cuesta dios y ayuda abrir, y mientras meto unas manzanas me pongo a silbar, siempre ando silbando, esta vez sale la Reina de la Noche, aria de la Flauta Mágica que no es nada fácil de entonar. Ante mi extrañeza, Ana me acompaña con la voz. Me acerco, la miro y le pregunto.

- Sí, claro que la conozco, es una ópera, me gusta mucho la ópera, pero no me pregunte cuál es. Ah, y también me gusta mucho la zarzuela. Coja los kiwis de la primera cesta, son más caros pero mucho mejores. Mientras meto los kiwis en otra bolsa, me lanzo a cantar, primero bajito y luego, cuando me acerco a su guarida casi a voz en grito, aquella preciosa melodía del Acto II de La del Manojo de Rosas: “...que pronto se fue, para ya en la vida jamás volver”. Porque me ha dicho que le gusta la zarzuela.

- Eso e de La del Manojo de Rosas (se la sabe), qué bonita es y qué bien la canta usted.

- ¿Y no conoce aquella zarzuela, El Caserío, de Guridi?

- No, esa no.

Pero ya me da igual, y empiezo a gritar casi: “Chiquito de Arrigorri, bravo José Miguel...”. Ana me mira con ternura, y repite: “qué bien canta usted”. Y yo le digo “¿Y habaneras? ¿Le gustan las habaneras?”.

- Uy, que si me gustan, me chiflan. Sobre todo, las de Carlos Cano, pobrecito mío, qué mala muerte tuvo, y tan joven.

Así que mientras echo las uvas en otra bolsa (“verá que buenas son; claro, que ya lo sabe porque son las mismas que se llevó el otro día. Bueno, las mismas no, ya me entiende...”) entonamos Habaneras de Cádiz, y luego María la portuguesa. Menos mal que no había otros clientes a los que atender, pero hasta los pocos coches que pasaban por la vía de servicio, junto a la que está el puesto de Ana, nos miraban con curiosidad y asombro.

Ya no me faltaban más que los huevos, que también tiene, aunque no en las cestas de afuera, sino dentro del quiosco. Mientras me acerco y se los pido, le cuento lo de aquella otra cantante tan tierna que también murió muy joven, en un accidente de coche.

- Ah, sí, Cecilia se llamaba, cómo no me voy a acordar con lo buena que era...

Y nos ponemos a cantar a dúo, esta vez sin gritos, Un Ramito de Violetas.

Cuando ese día volví, casi una hora desde que llegué, su cara de pena estaba escondida detrás de una franca sonrisa y unos ojos con brillo. Pero todavía quedaba una broma.

Al meter las bolsas de fruta en las alforjas de la bici, una de ellas casi se me cae. Escucho su voz de alarma: “¡Cuidado con los huevos!”. Sin pensarlo, hago como que me agacho y me llevo ambas manos a la entrepierna.

- ¡No, hombre, no me refiero a esos!

Seguí escuchando sus risas durante unas cuantas pedaladas.

Si algún día pasan por esa carreterita que va hacia Torreguadiaro, paren donde Ana.

This is what I was told a while ago by Ana, the lady who runs the fruit stall next to the road going towards Torreguadiaro, opposite the CEPSA petrol station.

- And these ones?, I ask.

- These are from Africa; South Africa to be precise. The ones for juice are at the end, the little ones.

So I fill the bag she gives more, a little over four kilograms. When I take it to weigh and pay, I let out a yawn.

- Sleepy, no? -she says- I didn’t sleep at all last night. Because of the child.

- You will get a siesta. The girl? What age is the little one?

- The little one... She is 39 years old but doesn’t speak or walk or anything; she has cerebral palsy. You know, because of the forceps when they took her out of me... You didn’t know that I have a daughter with cerebral palsy?... And siesta...tell me, how if I have to open at nine or before and don’t close until nine or after.

No, I didn’t know about the girl, but I let her tell me a little more about her, because I was the only client and I think she wanted to talk about her troubles. About her child. I returned home, with sorrow at her sorrow, with my heart a little sad and blessing the heavens for my luck.

Even if have to do a more general shop in one of the supermarkets in the area, we always buy the fruit before, or leave it to afterwards, to Ana. Her stall is always open, whether it is Sunday or Christmas, from early in the morning until nine or ten at night. And the stall isn’t small. Outside it there are dozens and dozens of boxes with all the goods classified and ordered.

- And all of this, you get it out and put it away each day? What a worker!

- You don’t really know; but my other daughter normally helps me and everyday some guys come who do almost everything.

And whenever I go, after the customary greeting and referring to the western or eastern wind, the cold or heat to give her an excuse, I allow her to tell me about her back pains, the inflammation in her legs, which ruin her life, her tiredness... her daughter. And I tell her the odd joke, the odd anecdote and make her laugh. And then, making the most of any word that reminds me of a song, I start singing. And if she knows the song, she accompanies me.

While we talk about this and that, I take a plastic bag, the ones that are practically impossible to open, and while I put some apples in I begin whistling, I always whistle while I walk, this time the Queen of the Night, an aria from the Magic Flute comes out which is very tough to sing. To my surprise, Ana accompanies me with her voice. I approach, look at her and ask.

- Yes, of course I know it, it’s an opera, I really like the opera, but don’t ask me which one it is. Ahh, and I really like the zarzuela. Take the kiwis from the first box, they are more expensive but much better.

While I put the kiwis into another bag, I start singing, first quietly and then, as I approach her shelter, almost shouting, that beautiful melody from Act II of “The One with the Bunch of Roses”: “...how soon he left, never to return again.” Because she has told me that she likes zarzuela.

- That is from “The One with the Bunch of Roses”, how beautiful and well you sing it.

- And don’t you know the zarzuela, El Caserío (The Hamlet), by Guridi?

- No, I don’t know that one.

But I don’t mind, and I almost begin shouting: “Chiquito de Arrigorri, bravo José Miguel....” Ana looks at me with affection, and repeats: “how well you sing.” And I say to her “And what ab0ut habaneras?” Do you like habaneras?.”

- Oh, do I like them, I love them. Especially those of Carlos Cano, poor little guy, what a bad death he had, and so young.

So while I put the grapes into another bag (“you will see how good they are; of course, you already know because they are the same ones you bought the other day. Well not the same ones, you know what I mean...”) we sing Habaneras from Cádiz, and then the song María la Portuguesa. At least there were no other customers to attend to but even the few cars that passed along the service road, next to which Ana’s stall sits, look at us curiously and with amazement.

I was only missing eggs, which she also has, although not in the baskets outside, but rather inside the kiosk. As I approach and ask for them, I tell her about the other really affectionate singer who also died very young, in a car accident.

- Oh, yes, her name was Cecilia, how could I not remember given how good she was...

And we begin singing as a duo, this time without shouting, Un Ramito de Violetas. When I left that day, almost an hour after arriving, her face of sorrow was hidden behind a genuine smile and sparkling eyes. But she still had a joke left.

When I put the bags of fruit into the saddlebags on the bike, one of them almost fell. I hear her voice of alarm: “Be careful with the eggs!.” Without even thinking, I go as if to bend down and put both hands up to my crotch.

- No, man, I wasn’t referring to those ones!

I continued listening to her laughter for quite a few pedals.

Pesar por el fallecimiento de Antonio Larrain Varas

Triste pérdida y una de esas noticias que nunca es sencilla de comunicar a la comunidad. Lamentamos informar del reciente fallecimiento de Antonio Larrain Varas, padre de Patricia Larrain Alba, CEO de Contasult Asesores. De parte toda la redacción de Grupo HCP Sotogrande y especialmente, de El Periódico de Sotogrande, transmitir nuestro más cercano abrazo a toda la familia. Una persona entrañable y que siempre fue un fiel seguidor y lector de los periódicos y revistas de esta casa.

Así como a su hija, Patricia Larrain, que durante muchísimos años fue una constante e inspiradora colaboradora de este medio a través de su empresa y especialmente, con sus artículos especializados en economía y asesoría que tanto ayudaron en la difusión de estos conocimientos.

Transmitir nuestro más sentido pésame a toda la familia y amigos.

Sad loss and one of those news that is never easy to communicate to the community. We regret to inform of the recent passing of Antonio Larrain Varas, father of Patricia Larrain Alba, CEO of Contasult Asesores. On behalf of the entire editorial staff of Grupo HCP Sotogrande and especially of El Periódico de Sotogrande, we would like to convey our warmest embrace to the whole family. An endearing person who was always a faithful follower and reader of the newspapers and magazines of this house.

As well as to his daughter, Patricia Larrain, who for many years was a constant and inspiring collaborator of this medium through her company and especially with her articles specialising in economics and consultancy, which helped so much in the dissemination of this knowledge.

En cuanto a la participación, se colocó en un 58,61% % (13.463 votos), lo que supone un incremento de poco más del 1% respecto a 2019. En la jornada electoral de este domingo podían ejercer el derecho al voto en San Roque 22.965 personas (675 más que en 2019), en 35 mesas repartidas en 14 colegios electorales situados en cinco distritos.

The Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) improved on the results achieved in 2019 in the Municipal Elections, obtaining one more councillor than then, so it now has a total of 12, which means that it also retains an absolute majority in the Council of San Roque. ¡100 veces felicidades, María Luisa!

María Luisa Baños, usuaria de la Residencia de Mayores La Milagrosa, ha alcanzado los cien años, y con ese motivo se le organizó este martes una gran fiesta de cumpleaños. Como ocurre siempre que alguien empadronado en San Roque llega a esta edad, desde el Ayuntamiento se le envió un ramo de flores, que le entregó en mano el propio alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix.

La celebración de los cien años de María Luisa Baños tuvo lugar en el patio de la Residencia La Milagrosa, en San Enrique, y asistieron la mayoría de los usuarios de este centro. También se contó con la presencia del alcalde y de las tenientes de alcalde Belén Jiménez y Mónica Córdoba, esta última como delegada de Igualdad y Asuntos Sociales. Además de soplar las velas de los cien años, María Luisa recibió regalos de su sobrina, presente en la fiesta, y de la misma residencia, y disfrutó de una entrañable celebración. Cuando le entregó las flores, Ruiz Boix le deseó que siguiera cumpliendo años con salud.

María Luisa Baños, a user of La Milagrosa elderly people’s home, has reached the age of one hundred, and to mark the occasion a big birthday party was organised on Tuesday. As is always the case when somebody registered in San Roque reaches this age, the Council sent her a bouquet of flowers, which were presented by the mayor himself, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix. The celebration of María Luisa Baños’ one hundredth birthday took place in the courtyard of La Milagrosa elderly people’s home in San Enrique, and it was attended by most of the users of the centre. It was also attended by the mayor and the deputy mayors Belén Jiménez and Mónica Córdoba, the latter as delegate for Equality and Social Affairs.

In addition to blowing out the candles for her one hundred years, María Luisa received gifts from her niece, present at the party, and from the home itself, and enjoyed a charming celebration. Upon presenting her with the flowers, Ruiz Boix wished that she would continue to celebrate birthdays in good health.

Tras años, has bailado con tu hija en siguiendo las tendencias de Tik Tok, antes de nacer tu bebé era hasta famoso, incluso se ha llegado a convertir en un influencer juvenil, y por supuesto eras libre para hacerlo…., pero, era libre tu hijo o lo hizo porque pensaba que era lo normal.

Actualmente ninguna sociedad está preparada para revisar la huella digital que vamos dejando a lo largo de los años y la repercusión que esto puede tener en un futuro laboral o personal. Existen riesgos que provienen de la propia diversidad humana en los que se incluyen la depravación, al igual que los psicológicos porque quién está preparado “con tres años” para tener dos millones de seguidores.

Que muchos padres compartan en la red, la primera ecografía, la foto del nacimiento, datos personales o cuál es el último objeto de moda que le han comprado ha su hijo, es más común de los que podemos creer, es el “sharenting”. Es el hábito de algunos padres y madres de compartir contenido de sus hijos en Internet de forma continuada. Y es que el 81% está en Internet antes de cumplir los seis meses de edad.

A mi modo de ver, me parece un alquiler total del “hijo” para crear contenido, no sé si es legal, aunque a muchos lectores y a mi se nos planteará la duda de si al menos se debería debatir.

Es curioso, porque para utilizar cierta maquinaria, como un coche o una moto, o realizar gran parte de las profesiones, se necesita una licencia, permiso, formación u orientación, pero para ser “creador de contenido” o para ser “creador de contenido utilizando a tus hijos” no hace falta.

Siendo un problema los riesgos que pueden derivarse de esta sobreexposición, como: suplantación de identaidad, fraude, grooming o cyberbullyng o que ese contenido se convierta en material de explotación sexual infantil, está otro factor igual de grave, la identidad digital futura. Por supuesto en la mayoría de los casos este hábito de compartir en redes contenido de nuestros hijos nace del amor hacia a ellos y nos encanta que nuestro entorno los vea, nos gratifique con un like y compartamos algo tan bonito, pero el problema es aquellos que no tienen buenas intenciones.

Otros buscarán convertir al niño en influencer o querrán conseguir una rentabilidad económica, normalmente fugaz, con ese contenido.

En el fondo para mí, el gran problema aunque sean unos contenidos neutrales, es la huella digital.

San Roque distinguishes its illustrious citizens on 317th anniversary of the city

The Institutional Plenary of Honours and Distinctions for the 317th anniversary of the City recognised citizens, companies and groups from the municipality at Teatro Juan Luis Galiardo. An Honorary Member of the Corporation was (posthumously) named an Adoptive Son of the City, and there were thirteen Mentions of Honour: two for groups, another for a now extinct company and its two founders, one more for a couple, and another 9 for private individuals, of which two were posthumous.

The acting Municipal Corporation, headed by the mayor, attended this Institutional Plenary, at which Ruiz Boix stated that San Roque is progressing and alongside the new Corporation it will progress in all neighbourhoods of the municipality, because the 21 councillors are going to seek the best future for everyone. With regard to the people and enti-

ties who received these distinctions, the Adoptive Son of the City was awarded (posthumously) to Jaime Clavijo Pérez; and Lorenzo Pérez Rodríguez was named Honorary Member of the Corporation.

A case of Business Mediation

This time I would like to share with you a mediation case in which I assisted, remotely, Marisa, HR manager of her company, to mediate between two workers. It was a successful case that could be replicated in other organisations thanks to the mediation assistance to apply Motivational Attractors.

Marisa contacted me to mediate between Ana, commercial director, and Miguel, operations manager and partner of the company. The company, with almost 100 employees, manufactures footwear and is going through a good period. However, during the pandemic they weathered a crisis and Ana was the general manager at the time. Miguel, who was on personal leave at the time, had returned to work full time several months earlier.

The spark of conflict broke out shortly after Miguel’s reinstatement and Ana was relieved of her post. Another partner, Francisco, took his place. Ana felt that her involvement and performance during the crisis had not been appreciated by the partners and, from her current position as commercial director, she held strong views on strategic planning and was often in conflict with Miguel. Ana felt that Miguel was unaware of important issues while ignoring her advice. Miguel, in turn, felt that Ana was meddling in his areas of responsibility, creating a lot of tension.

After a first session of mine with the HR manager, the conflict was defined on the basis that Ana needed to be recognised and valued, while Miguel needed her to trust his judgement and support his leadership. In addition, Ana wanted salary adjustments, which were introduced without any problems for the company.

Indeed, Ana explained to Marisa that she needed Miguel to meet with her regularly, listen to her input and make decisions based on it. Miguel, in turn, wanted Ana to let him do his work with autonomy by backing him up against other workers. In practice, achieving this, when they went to mediation, was not easy without help as communication between the two was tinged by mistrust and they had already had several clashes. The objective, therefore, was to re-establish communication based on respect and to make it sustainable over time. So, once I had identified the key points of the conflict with the HR manager, I assisted her in working with both workers individually and preparing their joint negotiation. They were given the Motivational Attractors questionnaire and, after another session with me, Marisa had several individual sessions with Ana and Miguel according to the guidelines of their Attractor profiles and what she and I had worked on together.

For example, Miguel’s predominant Attractor in this conflict was “Personal Success”, while Ana experienced the situation from “Power”. Ana had to communicate with sense and responsibility, encouraging Miguel’s sense of belonging in order to get him to stop ignoring her suggestions. Ana found this very difficult to do because of her anger and feeling of being undervalued, so Marisa, after promoting the salary changes Ana needed, had to encourage, in turn, in Miguel, a calm and sincere recognition of Ana’s contributions to the smooth running of the company. It was in these terms that the joint session took place with apologies flowing from both parties involved. As a result, in just 3 sessions with me, Marisa managed to manage and resolve this conflict in a profitable and healthy way for her organisation by creating a protocol, as a preventive measure, which reflected the agreements reached between both workers.

Un caso de Mediación Empresarial

Esta vez os quiero compartir un caso de mediación en que asistí, en remoto, a Marisa, responsable de RRHH de su empresa, para mediar entre dos trabajadores. Fue un caso de éxito replicable en otras organizaciones gracias a la asistencia mediadora para aplicar Atractores Motivacionales.

Marisa me contactó para mediar entre Ana, directora comercial, y Miguel, director de operaciones y socio de la empresa. La empresa, con casi 100 trabajadores, se dedica a la fabricación de calzado y atraviesa un buen momento. No obstante, durante la pandemia capearon una crisis y era Ana entonces la directora general. Miguel, estuvo entonces de baja por temas personales habiéndose reincorporado varios meses atrás a tiempo completo.

La chispa del conflicto saltó al poco tiempo de reincorporarse Miguel y ser Ana relegada de su puesto. Otro socio, Francisco, ocupó su lugar. Ana opinaba que su implicación y desempeño durante la crisis no habían sido valorados por los socios y, desde su actual puesto de directora comercial, mantenía firmes opiniones sobre la planificación estratégica entrando, a menudo, en conflicto con Miguel. Ana pensaba que Miguel desconocía cuestiones importantes al tiempo que desoía los consejos de ella. Miguel, a si vez, opinaba que Ana se inmiscuía en sus áreas de responsabilidad generando mucha crispación.

Tras una primera sesión mía con la responsable de RRHH, quedó definido el conflicto sobre la base de que Ana necesitaba ser reconocida y valorada, mientras que Miguel necesitaba que ella confiara en su criterio y respaldase su liderazgo. Además, Ana deseaba unos ajustes salariales que se introdujeron sin suponer problema para la empresa. Efectivamente, Ana le explicó a Marisa que necesitaba que Miguel se reuniera con ella regularmente, escuchara sus aportaciones y tomara de-

cisiones considerándolas.

Miguel, a su vez, quería que Ana le dejara hacer su trabajo con autonomía respaldándole frente a otros trabajadores. En la práctica, lograr esto, cuando acudieron a mediación, no era fácil sin ayuda pues la comunicación entre ambos estaba teñida por la desconfianza y ya habían tenido varios encontronazos. El objetivo, por lo tanto, era restablecer una comunicación desde el respeto y hacerlo, además, sostenible en el tiempo. Así, una vez identificados los puntos clave del conflicto con la responsable de RRHH, le asistí parta trabajar con ambos trabajadores individualmente y preparar su negociación conjunta. Se les pasó el cuestionario de Atractores Motivaciones y, tras otra sesión conmigo, Marisa tuvo varias individuales con Ana y Miguel de acuerdo con las pautas de sus perfiles de Atractores y lo que ella y yo habíamos trabajado juntas.

Por ejemplo, el Atractor predominante de Miguel en este conflicto era “Éxito Personal”, mientras que Ana vivía la situación desde “Poder”. Ana debía comunicar con sentido y responsabilidad, alentando el sentimiento de pertenencia de Miguel para lograr que él dejara de ignorar sus sugerencias. A Ana le resultaba dificilísimo hacer esto debido a su enfado y sensación de haber sido poco valorada, con lo que Marisa, tras promover los cambios salariales que necesitaba Ana, tuvo que alentar, a su vez, en Miguel, un reconocimiento sereno y sincero de hacia las aportaciones de Ana al buen funcionamiento de la empresa. En estos términos se desarrolló la sesión conjunta con disculpas que fluyeron por parte de ambos implicados. Como resultado, en solo 3 sesiones conmigo, Marisa logró gestionar y resolver este conflicto de manera rentable y saludable para su organización creando un protocolo, a modo preventivo, donde se reflejaban los acuerdos alcanzados entre ambos trabajadores.

Comienza la cuenta atrás para que los amantes del mejor golf internacional disfruten del LIV Golf League 2023, cuya única parada del torneo en Europa se disputará en San Roque, en el majestuoso Real Club Valderrama del 30 de junio al 2 de julio.

El LIV Golf es un novedoso campeonato que tiene el respaldo monetario de jeques árabes con

un formato distinto al habitual. Incluye competición tanto individual como por equipos, además de lucrativos premios que superan los del PGA. Además tiene como administrador delegado y comisionado al australiano Greg Norman, una de las leyendas del golf mundial.

The team Los Schatzies were crowned winners of the Third Edition of the Welcome Cup 2023; the team formed by: Daniel Gariador, Jella Herzer, Nicolas Espain and Ignacio Domecq; won the first trophy of the campaign. Second place went to the team

Dany’s Polo Isolas: Lorenz Dany, Diogo Gallego, Juan Uribe and Marcelo Gigena.

The special prizes went to: Agua Ardiente, played on by Diogo Gallego (Best Playing Pony); Kaveh Atrak (Fairplay) and Nico Espain (MVP). Third place went to the Rhone Hill team and fourth place went to La Capilla Polo Club.

Carlota Ciganda ha logrado un importante triunfo al imponerse en el Aramco Team Series Florida, perteneciente al Ladies European Tour. Una victoria que se convierte en la séptima de la jugadora navarra en este circuito y que apuntala sus opciones de clasificarse directamente para el equipo europeo de la Solheim Cup 2023.

De hecho, Carlota Ciganda ha dado un gran salto en los dos rankings que servirán para conformar el combinado europeo que se enfrentará al estadounidense en Finca Cortesín del 18 al 24 de septiembre.

Así, en la clasificación mundial se ha situado en sexta posición, justamente la última que da acceso a entrar en el equipo capitaneado por Suzann Pettersen. Por delante de la golfista navarra se encuentran la inglesa

Every summer for twenty years, Adolfo Aldana, former professional player at Real Madrid and Deportivo de la Coruña, has organised an international football campus, aimed at children aged 5 to 17, which has become a national benchmark, thanks to the team of professionals he brings together and the magnificent facilities with natural grass where it is held and where up until very recently top-level teams have trained.

Fairplay, a five-star start to X Circuito Golf Sotogrande

An initial event in great style, a top quality first event for this tenth edition of Circuito de Golf Sotogrande. Fairplay Golf & Spa, the venue of one of the regular events of the calendar over the last three years, hosted the first event in great style of the X Circuit. An event with lots of golf, lots of new additions and the best atmosphere.

The players enjoyed a course in spectacular condition, in a privileged location like that enjoyed by the hotel resort of Benalup. With attention and care to detail by the local staff and organisers, the golfers took on a top quality

day from the outset, with a firstclass welcome with a fantastic ‘Welcome Pack’ of El Corte Ingles Supermarkets in Sotogrande; as well as all the surprises of the day (in which the weather and especially the eastern wind allowed all of the splendour of the course to be enjoyed). In terms of the sport, the winners on the day were: William Pennington (Men’s longest drive), Celia Nebot (Womens’ longest drive) and the Closest ball went to Antonio Cidoncha. The Womens’ victory went to Frederique Adnot; followed by Marisa Artes and Ana Vega. In the men’s second
