EMD’S MESSAGE
EMD’s message from Peter Jensen-Muir
Welcome to the 2023 mid-year edition of Team Talk.
I would like to start with an Acknowledgement of Country. I am writing this from my home on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia, which is on the lands of the Kabi Kabi and the Jinibara peoples.
Cummins acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. To learn more about reconciliation or Acknowledgment of Country go to www.reconciliation.org.au.
It’s been a challenging and successful first half of 2023 even though we continue to see cost escalations impacting on our business, our customers and the broader community. Labour shortages, especially for diesel technicians, continue to create challenges in supporting our customers.
On behalf of the Asia Pacific Leadership Team, I’d like to thank everyone for the dedication, resilience, skills and commitment you bring to caring for our customers.
In June, we announced new guidance for working under a hybrid model, which consists of a mix of on-site and off-site work that balances the needs of the business, the team, and the individual employees. Striking that balance is critical for us to create environments in which our employees and our business thrive.
Our teams are progressing well with meeting the expectations of spending at least 40% of time in-person and, for the first six months at Cummins, 60% of the time in-person for new employees and their managers.
This time together is intended to continue to build an inspiring and collaborative workplace where everyone feels a strong sense of belonging. If you or your team are not yet achieving these guidelines, please plan to do so in the next few weeks.
I would like to congratulate more than 65 employees who were promoted and welcome more than 310 new employees who joined the Cummins Asia Pacific team this year.
Congratulations to those promoted and thank you for stepping up to take on new responsibilities. For those new to Cummins, thank you all for choosing Cummins and we look forward to your contributions to our business.
I was reflecting on new employees choosing Cummins for their careers and recalling the amazing number of employees who reached significant service milestones in the first half of 2023. Their contributions equated to more than 2,845 years with 46 employees celebrating more than 20 years with the company.
This mix of new and long-serving employees is a special part of what I enjoy about working at Cummins. New employees, who bring new experiences and ideas, combined with long-serving employees with vast experience and deep external customer relationships, make this a special place to work.
Be sure to reach out and congratulate these employees, be it welcoming them to Cummins or thanking them for their extraordinary service milestones and contributions to our success.
In the last five years, Cummins Powers Women’s (CPW) impact within Asia Pacific deserves reflection. The numbers speak for themselves: 46,879 women and girls positively impacted, $1.2 million invested across four countries and four Asia Pacific partners, one global impact award and more than 95 Cummins Asia Pacific CPW Ambassadors.
Cummins Powers Women programs have already had a deep and long-lasting impact on women and girls across Asia Pacific and our reach continues to grow.
Cummins is working to create solutions to gender inequality in our communities by partnering with global nonprofit organisations to accelerate the advancement of women and girls, reinforcing Cummins’ internal commitment to the prosperity of women around the world. Thank you all for the work done in this important area for gender equality within the communities in which we reside.
You are an incredible team, and I am grateful for the skills and dedication you bring to Cummins, our customers, each other and our business. Thank you.
Warm regards
Peter Jensen-Muir Executive Managing Director | Cummins Asia Pacific

Diana Rey-Marrero visits Asia Pacific
In March, Diana Rey-Marrero, Vice President of Cummins Business Services, visited the Asia Pacific region for the first time in many years.
At the Scoresby office, she hosted a joint town hall meeting with Peter Jensen-Muir, Executive Managing Director for Cummins Asia Pacific. Peter opened the session with a business overview of the region before introducing Diana.
Diana explained her career journey leading to her current role at Cummins. In line with the theme for Women’s History Month, she shared information about her family and acknowledged her mother as her role model. Diana also shared her personal values as an individual and a leader before answering questions.
After the town hall meeting, everyone gathered in the lunchroom for food and an opportunity to connect with the leaders directly.

Embracing equity on International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023 saw a mix of online and in-person events.
This year’s theme was #EmbraceEquity, which recognises that supporting women doesn’t stop at equal opportunities, but equity to empower those coming from different circumstances.
IWD 2023 Zoom celebration
Kristina Lambkin, Corporate Responsibility and TEC Program Leader, hosted a region-wide webinar celebrating five years of Cummins Power Women operating globally.
Sisters of Mary School – Cummins Philippines
In total, 422 employees tuned into the webinar from 10 locations – Cairns, Carole Park, Korea, Mackay, Malaysia, Mt Isa, Papua New Guinea, Scoresby, Toowoomba and Townsville. Attendees were joined by guest speakers from Cummins’ community partners who shared results achieved though their partnerships.
At the end, leaders within the region and the community partners shared their aspirations for gender equality in the future.
Happy Boxes – Carole Park and Toowoomba
Brisbane and Toowoomba employees joined forces to donate toiletries and beauty products to Happy Boxes, an organisation that empowers women by breaking down barriers to accessing basic needs.
On IWD a team packaged donated goods into 31 bags that were sent to their nominated community, Fregon Anangu School in South Australia.
On March 17, the Women’s Empowerment Resource Group (WERG) and Philippines CIT invited students from Sisters of Mary School to celebrate IWD at the branch.
Jowell de Asis, Project Manager – Corporate Responsibility, spoke on common prejudices against women and emphasised women’s capabilities and their importance in society. That was followed by a think-and-share activity that encouraged the students to reflect on biases they may have on gender, social and economic status, race, ethnicity, people with disabilities and faith.
Afterwards, the students were given an overview of the workshop and Cummins’ products and services, led by Antonny Calupig, Workshop Manager, and Anna Liza Caronan, WERG leader, to demonstrate Cummins commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Round table – Cummins Korea
The Korean Women’s Empowerment Network celebrated IWD with Julia Utan, Director of Customer Support and Business Transformation, and Travis Lloyd, Director of Aftermarket.
Julia shared her career journey, experiences of taking on challenges, and her aspiration to advance women’s rights and equality in the workforce. She inspired and encouraged female employees to be bold and try to move out of their comfort zones. At the end of the session, everyone gathered for a group photo to emphasise the 2023 IWD theme – #EmbraceEquity.
8 AUGUST 2023 Team Talk – powering your voices across Cummins Asia Pacific CELEBRATING IWD
CELEBRATING IWD
Japan office celebrates IWD
To celebrate IWD, the female employees gathered to discuss their lives at Cummins Japan and how that differed from other companies they had worked for before Cummins.
The women divided into groups to exchange opinions on themes such as diversity, women’s working environments and welfare. The opportunity enabled the participants to build relationships and connections and explore important topics.
Cummins Mackay invited eight Year 10 students from Mackay North High School to join them for IWD.
The students were picked up in a rental bus generously donated by Ezy Rentals and brought to the branch. Together, they tuned in to the live broadcast with 14 other staff members and their accompanying teachers.
The group then formed a circle to talk about their employment journeys, supported by personal stories from female employees. The students were encouraged to ask questions and had great interest in all the roles the staff had experienced throughout their careers.
Females in Engineering ERG
After the zoom celebration with Cummins CR partners, the newly formed Females in Engineering ERG held a virtual discussion on the topic ‘Who inspires you?’ with a STEM focus.
A major takeaway from the call was that the members found themselves to be inspiring to others while also being inspired by those close to them – their families. A truly empowering session.
Dignity drive – Mt Isa and Townsville
Employees at Mt Isa and Townsville worked together to donate feminine hygiene products to Share the Dignity.
Share the Dignity is an Australian women’s charity that works to make a difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or going through tough times.

Kate Evans (Training Manager) and Claire Hampton (Branch Manager - Regional) invited 12 female Cummins-Meritor employees to Laverton, where they connected with staff from the branch and Campbellfield over morning tea.
The visit was an opportunity to learn about Laverton’s operations and participate in a site tour by Tomce Stojkovski (Rail Operations Manager).
In a presentation by Kate, the women were introduced to the Women’s Empowerment Network and Business AcuWomen program, enabling them to understand more about Cummins’ mission to foster an inclusive work environment.

Customer secured: Cummins Wodonga visits RailFirst
In October 2022, Cummins Wodonga began a partnership with new high horsepower customer –Rail First Asset Management (RailFirst).
Headquartered in New South Wales, RailFirst is an Australian rolling stock leasing company operating in the rail freight market with QSK78 engines powering its locomotives.
RailFirst has many workshops around the country, including a roundhouse (train maintenance facility) in Junee. As the Wodonga branch was not known for working with high horsepower engines, RailFirst was pleased to learn that Cummins technicians can travel out to service their engines.
With an extensive knowledge in the high horsepower field and of QSK78 engines, Daniel Holden, Supervisor – Field Service, worked closely with RailFirst to secure a positive relationship with the customer.
Brett Sheriff, Asset Services Planner for RailFirst, was highly satisfied with the work provided by the Wodonga field service team. In his feedback email, he thanked Daniel, Nathan Frauenfelder and Mitch Hall for their quality service:
“The support from the team at Wodonga is absolutely fantastic. Dan is easy to get hold of and keeps us informed. The help and knowledge from Mitch and Nathan on site is excellent. It is great to see such a high level of customer support, please thank them all from me.”
In December, Daniel visited the Junee rail roundhouse workshop to meet Brett and the RailFirst team for the first time.
“As the Field Service Supervisor, I personally got to see firsthand the application my team had to work on and understand their experience working on the locomotives,” Daniel said.
“We supply RailFirst with a very high level of customer support and we go above and beyond to meet their expectations.”

12 AUGUST 2023 Team Talk – powering your voices across Cummins Asia Pacific AWARD WINNERS

AWARD WINNERS
Let’s hear from our project leaders
Peter Yin – Continuous Improvement Leader
Excess and obsolete inventory is a significant cost to our organisation, not only taking up space in our warehouses, but tying up much-needed working capital, impacting on our cash flow. This project was intended to improve the quality of our inventory to improve our inventory turnover and meet working capital commitments.
This project involved a redesign and relocation of our assembly line to react quickly to an imminent increase to our forecast demand. During the design process, we identified multiple efficiency improvements we could implement in the new location which provided continual reduction in labour hours of 16%. The project delivery was a huge collaborative effort between the Brisbane MRC and branch teams. I am grateful to everybody who helped make this project a success.
Family and domestic violence is a global challenge at an epidemic level. In an effort to tackle this important issue, the Asia Pacific Legal team worked closely with volunteers from law firm Baker McKenzie on an ambitious pro bono project to produce the most comprehensive and up-to-date analysis of domestic violence laws around the world. The project created a powerful tool that enables rapid analysis of legislation around the world measured against model domestic violence conventions. The online tool is free to use and being widely accessed by organisations and individuals dedicated to eradicating gender-based violence globally. This was an incredible effort by all team members involved and we are proud of the impact the tool is already having. I am grateful to all involved and look forward to continuing this important work in the next phases of the project.
Our strong partnership with SG Enable and commitment from the Asia Pacific Leadership Team, sponsors, mentors and hiring managers envision a more inclusive Cummins. The Attach and Train program created equitable opportunities for people with disabilities to aspire to and fulfil their potential. I am glad to lead this program and extend a step further in Cummins’ DE&I journey.
We wanted to ensure employees experiencing family and domestic violence knew Cummins would support them through the recovery journey and sought to share information and resources they can use. It was important to also recognise that we could make a greater impact by offering support, information and resources to people who use family and domestic violence who may be seeking rehabilitation. In that way, we could envision a future where our communities, and Cummins, are free from family and domestic violence.
Diversity, equity and inclusion is a journey and I’m happy to see we are advancing on this with sustained progress in the disability inclusion space. With exemplary commitment from the APLT, sponsors, mentors, hiring managers and many others involved in this project at various stages, we hope to eventually normalise the process of hiring people with disabilities, achieve inclusion in mainstream employment and share best practices across the organisation.

2023 onboarding in Melbourne
In February, the Cummins Apprentice Program gathered the 2023 cohort in Melbourne for a twoweek onboarding program.
This year’s cohort consists of 81 new apprentices – 20 females and 61 males – making it the largest intake the Cummins Apprentice Program has ever worked with.
During the two weeks, the apprentices were welcomed by leaders and employees in the business. Part of the onboarding focused on practical technical activities, career insights from senior leaders, and visits to the Kenworth factory and Filtration site.
Thank you to everyone, including service leaders and functional team members from Service Excellence, Technical Training, HR and Global Onboarding, whose contributions made the 2023 program a great success.

CAREER EXPOS
Trades Fit Expo
Ren Trinchera (Central Region APM), Lucas Noack (1st Year Apprentice Program Intern), and Elise Sapardanis (2nd Year Apprentice Program Intern) attended the Trades Fit Expo at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Hosted by the Department of Education for female and non-binary students in years 9-12, the event was a unique opportunity to showcase the Apprentice Program to young women interested in trade and tech industry career paths.
The team spoke to students about the opportunities Cummins offers its apprentices and networked with careers advisers from schools in the metro Melbourne area. They also gained insight into what other exhibiting companies were doing and connected with industry professionals.
Brisbane Truck Show: 2023 HVIA National Apprentice Challenge
Caleb Todd, a 4th Year Apprentice from Cummins Kalgoorlie, participated in the 2023 HVIA National Apprentice Challenge.
Since starting his apprenticeship in 2020, Caleb has been a keen learner with a strong work ethic, always aiming to complete his tasks in a timely manner. His dedication and attitude saw him to win the Apprentice of the Year Award in the Goldfields.
Team Talk asked Caleb about his experience in the Apprentice Challenge: How many heats and what was involved?
“There were six teams with two apprentices in each. There were three 45-minute heats where we had to identify nine faults. If something was done incorrectly or, for example, safety glasses were not worn, a 15-second time penalty was added to the apprentices’ total time.
“We were successful in the first three heats and made it through to the finals. The final was 60 minutes where nine faults were to be identified, including an extra hidden fault which added to the pressure.”
How did you feel?
“I was nervous going into all the heats and the final. Overall, I am happy I came third in the competition and proud of my result.”
A big shoutout to Martin Bostelman (Branch Manager – Kalgoorlie), Trevor Nelson (Service Manager) and the team at the Kalgoorlie branch as they have mentored and supported Caleb throughout his apprenticeship journey.
North West Regional Careers Expo
Representatives from Cummins Tamworth, including Grace Carey (1st Year Apprentice), Toby Newcombe (2nd Year Apprentice) and Luke Johnstone (Service Supervisor,) with support from Central Region APM Ren Trinchera, attended the North West Regional Careers Expo.
The expo in Tamworth was attended by 80 exhibitors and more than 2,000 students from the region.
It gave the branch the opportunity to showcase the X15 engine which provided a great conversation starter for students interested in becoming part of the next generation of Cummins Technicians.
The team was energised by the genuine interest from many students in the Cummins Apprentice Program.

AccessAbility Week with GradWISE
In February, the Talent Acquisition team participated in Industry AccessAbility Week, organised by GradWISE, an employment partner of Cummins Asia Pacific.
WISE Employment offers disability employment services in Australia. Its program, GradWISE, is designed to help graduates in their transition from studying to finding employment and to achieve their career aspirations.
AccessAbility Week featured presentations by a mix of GradWISE alumni and industry partners, each detailing either their experiences or what their organisations have in place to provide inclusive work environments.
The event’s theme was “Curiosity opens the door to opportunity”, with GradWISE encouraging students to explore inclusive career opportunities during and after their studies.
The Cummins Talent Acquisition team, represented by Chloe Lane, Joyce Chen and Davis McConnell, introduced the students to Cummins and the opportunities available within the company. Joyce and Davis spoke about Cummins’ DEI and Davis shared his journey at Cummins since onboarding in 2022.
“It was great be able to speak on a positive experience and advocate for the inclusive environment here at Cummins,” Davis said.
Cummins is an important industry partner and has been instrumental in the success of GradWISE. Over the past two years, Cummins has provided support to GradWISE, our university partners and, most importantly, to students living with disabilities. We are truly grateful for this partnership and the positive impact it has had on empowering students and promoting accessibility and inclusivity.

Recruitment expos with the TA team
AAGE Big Meet
The Talent Acquisition (TA) team attended the AAGE Big Meet in Melbourne.
They were supported by Mikhayla Pratt (Off-highway Marketing Intern), Davis McConnell (HR Graduate) and Maxwell Henderson and Lloyd Morrissey (Engineering),
The Big Meet is a one-day careers fair organised by the Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) and promoted to students from all universities in the host city.
The expo promotes intern and graduate programs to the attendees and subsequently captures students’ interest for the mid-year and 2024 program intakes.
The Big Meet was also a good opportunity for Cummins to promote the company to students and industry partners who might not know about our organisation.
The Trades Fit Expo
The TA team, in collaboration with the Apprentice Program Management (APM) team, attended The Trades Fit Expo at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Hosted by the Department of Education, the event provided a comfortable space for female and non-binary students from years 9 to 12 to learn about traditionally male-dominated industries. The team’s objective was to promote the Apprentice Program to more female and non-binary students and capture their interest in becoming future mechanical, electrical or parts apprentice superstars with Cummins.
The collaborative work between the TA and APM teams produced fruitful results as many attendees expressed interest in Cummins’ renowned Apprentice Program. They successfully promoted the program to students seeking a more hands-on career after completing their high school studies.
Lucas Noack, Apprentice Program Intern, said: “The Trades Fit Expo represents everything that is good about women and non-binary people in the trades industry. The drive to create a more gender diverse culture was on full display, as companies showcased their appeal to students from around Victoria.
“It was a perfect opportunity to highlight the many opportunities Cummins can provide to the next generation of future female and non-binary workers. We relished the chance
Mikhayla said: “Attending the Big Meet was so much fun, meeting new people within the business and students who were keen to know more about Cummins.
“Listening to Tracy, Davis and the rest of the team’s interactions with interested students gave me more insight into the apprentice and intern programs in general. It was interesting to see the benefits and diversity Cummins offers compared to our competitors, who largely limit access for international students and more.”
Overall, the event had a positive outcome because Cummins captured significant numbers of expressions of interest from students in various fields and from different universities for our intern and graduate programs.
to show our passion for creating meaningful apprenticeships for those who choose one of the many pathways we have to offer. In doing so, we hope to have instilled the excitement of potentially completing an apprenticeship at Cummins.”

Business AcuWomen
In April, the Women’s Empowerment Network (WE Network) launched the Business AcuWomen program.
Each month the program explores a different segment or department at Cummins. Participants delve into the purpose, work involved, working environment and professional prospects within each area. Key focuses include recognising transferable skills, identifying avenues for building experience, creating support networks, and enhancing visibility.
While Business AcuWomen is specifically designed to support women, its content and sessions are available to everyone within Cummins, fostering an inclusive environment where all can benefit from the wealth of knowledge and insights shared.
The inaugural keynote session on 11 April featured Peter Jensen-Muir. Under the theme of general management, Peter provided a comprehensive business overview of the Asia Pacific region, highlighted the launch of Accelera, and shared invaluable perspectives on Cummins leadership behaviours based on his own experience.
More than 150 employees eagerly attended the session, which culminated in an engaging Q&A session where participants could delve deeper into their personal inquiries about leadership and management with Peter.
Business AcuWomen’s second session was on 24 May. Lauren White, Director of Human Resources, provided an overview of Cummins’ HR and talent management and shared her story of personal and career growth. The session delved into the many functions and best practices within HR, providing valuable insights for employees throughout the organisation.
Designed to ensure equal representation and support the professional and personal success of all employees, the program demystifies business-facing roles within Cummins through interactive webinars with members of the Asia Pacific Leadership Team.
The program continues with monthly sessions until October. Watch your inboxes to register to attend upcoming sessions.
A recording of each session is available on the AcuWomen page.

ENGINEERING TEAM
What’s new in 2023
Interns and graduates
In 2023, the engineering team welcomed 13 new interns, with six of the last cohort continuing into their second year after they complete their studies.
Interns across all segments of the engineering team work on varied projects and tasks. They include tracking key service engineering issues, ensuring accuracy of product specifications, project planning and configuration management.
By the end of the year, the team will have four engineering graduates join the first graduate program in Cummins Asia Pacific. Some graduates have already begun their program, which can include rotations to gain valuable experience and broaden their insight and understanding of the diverse nature of engineering within Cummins. On each rotation the graduates will complete two projects in each segment, managing projects and networks internally and on customer site visits
Our current graduates are:

New ERG on the block: Asia Pacific Females in Engineering
In late 2022, an Asia Pacific Females in Engineering employee resource group (ERG) was formed to enable a space for women in engineering to connect, collaborate and discuss topics unique to their demographic.
One of the ERG’s goals is to promote outreach in STEM careers within Cummins’ communities. It is an important area of focus to encourage young students to consider STEM careers and see the opportunities available to them.
The ERG’s events so far include an International Women’s Day event; a breakout Zoom session on work-life balance; and a virtual networking session with the Society of Women Engineers.
The ERG is open not just to full-time employees but also interns, incorporating them into the team more effectively and providing networking opportunities around the business. Opportunities like that help develop employee engagement and employees gain a sense of belonging and fulfillment.
To find out more, please contact Andrea Lucas or any member of the engineering team.
Euro VI in-service conformity testing
The Australian Government has ratified the requirement for Euro VI compliant engines in new vehicle models from 1 November 2024 onwards, and existing vehicle models a year later.
One requirement of Euro VI regulation is in-service conformity (ISC) testing which requires use of a portable emissions measurement system (PEMS).
John Urquieta and Siby Joseph, from the On-highway Engineering team, are working with testing service provider ABMARC to complete PEMS testing to validate ISC. The testing involves installing an array of equipment to a vehicle that has accumulated adequate in-service mileage and time in the field as per the Euro VI requirements.
The sensitive measuring equipment and instrumented exhaust and gas bottles are installed on-frame and in-cab. The tests are conducted in the real world, rather than on a chassis dyno. The vehicle is driven on a test route that needs to capture different driving conditions, such as urban, rural and highway.
The PEMS captures and analyses tailpipe emissions as the vehicle is driving. At the end of testing, the results are scrutinised by the engineering team in conjunction with global compliance experts.

CSSPI packs relief boxes
Cummins Sales & Service Philippines Inc (CSSPI) employees volunteered at the National Resource Operation Centre (NROC) in Pasay City, National Capital Region, as part of an Every Employee, Every Community event on 20 April.
NROC, part of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), is a government-funded food repackaging centre that supports citizens during times of need by providing food and resources.
The team’s return to NROC this year followed a successful volunteering session last June, where the team donated rice for the packages.
During their half-day at the centre, CCSPI employees assisted NROC by producing relief boxes, packaging up to 50 boxes of cereals altogether.
The activity was organised by Jowell de Asis, Project Manager –Corporate Responsibility, with assistance from Rey Barrameda, Admin & Safety Officer.
“It was a great experience and fulfilling to know our simple help can go a long way,” Jowell said.
Currently DSWD aims to repackage 8,000 boxes of relief goods a day. The majority are sent to Mindoro Island to help fishermen affected by oil spills after a ship sank in the area.

The meeting was led by Sowmya Chaturvedi – Asia Pacific Supply Chain Director. A key objective was to increase engagement with operations staff at the Master Rebuild Centre (MRC).
David Wheatley, Asia Pacific Manufacturing Leader, initiated a tour of the Perth MRC. That gave the extended leadership team the opportunity to understand the MRC’s operations and interact with shop floor employees.
The dedicated time on the shop floor enabled the team to establish a direct connection with MRC employees and thank them for their hard work and dedication. It also provided a glimpse into the focus and coordination required from the entire organisation that culminates in assembling high-quality, finished products to meet customer needs.
The Perth Regional Distribution Centre (RDC), which has now been operational for more than a year, is the key to growth and customer support in the region. It is a new facility next to the existing site and led by Parts Manager Francis Blackburn.
Paul Anscombe, Director of Warehousing and Quality, proposed a team building activity at the RDC, which also helped to clear a backlog of workload. The leadership team performed inbound (receiving, staging and putting away) and outbound (picking and packing) activities. That enabled the leadership team to sample the Project Zebra scanning solution and appreciate the ongoing operational challenges faced by the RDC team.
Engaging with staff on the frontline was a truly humbling moment for the Supply Chain leadership team. It has resulted in a deeper appreciation and understanding of the processes, intricacies and challenges experienced by operations staff and will help to drive future process improvements.

Celebrating Harmony Day with APCRG
The Asia Pacific Cultural Resource Group (APCRG) hosted a lunch in Scoresby to celebrate Harmony Day 2023.
Branch employees gathered in person to share food from their different cultural backgrounds and hear from guest speakers. Others within the region joined virtually via Zoom.
The event began with APCRG welcoming everyone, followed by presentations from team members on their cultural
heritage and what Harmony Day means to them. They shared information about food, history and culture in different countries, enlightening everyone with interesting trivia.
Before wrapping up to start the feast, the team held a quiz on what was shared in the slides. Through combined efforts from everyone online and there in person, most questions were answered correctly.

Cummins awarded an Enabling Mark
Cummins Asia Pacific was awarded an Enabling Mark Award (Silver) by SG Enable at its 2023 Enabling Mark Awards Ceremony.
SG Enable is a focal agency for disability and inclusion in Singapore, enabling people with disabilities to live, learn, work and play in an inclusive society. The Enabling Mark is a national-level accreditation framework whereby the agency benchmarks and recognises organisations for best practices and outcomes in disability-inclusive employment.
Organisations are evaluated in five categories: leadership culture and climate; recruitment practices; workplace accessibility and accommodation; community engagement and promotion; and employment practices.
This year celebrates SG Enable’s tenth year in operation, with its anniversary dinner held in conjunction with the ceremony. Sowmya Chaturvedi, Director of Supply Chain, and Po Reen Tan, Customer Order Management Manager, represented Cummins Asia Pacific to receive the award in person.
Sowmya and Po Reen attribute the achievement to the many team members who help shape Cummins into an inclusive workplace, in particular, the hiring managers and mentors involved in the partnership with SG Enable.
Hiring managers: Matthew Tan, Peter Yin, Megan Skwierawski and Jane Tan
Mentors: Claire Mirabel, Alvin Ng, Sunila Mandavagne and Rebecca Ng
Joyce Chen, DEI Leader for Asia Pacific, was also credited for her involvement in the Singapore office’s refurbishment to make it more accessible and inclusive.
The Cummins Singapore Corporate Responsibility team partnered with SG Enable on the Attach and Train program, giving people with disabilities on-the-job and structured training for a year.
The partnership strengthens Cummins’ commitment and our leadership’s accountability to DEI through close interactions with people with disabilities, mitigating bias and ensuring equitable acquisition and advancement of all talent.

HSE meets engine fundamentals
As part of the HSE team’s commitment to ensuring the health and safety of employees at work, it is important to understand technicians’ daily work.
Trevor Matz, HSE Manager – Western Region, eagerly embraced the opportunity to participate in a diesel engine fundamentals course led by Cummins Technical Trainer Drummond Gray.
The detailed course gave participants hands-on training in a classroom setting.
Drummond ran the class through the basics of engine operation, engine subsystems and all the associated components.
He also covered the various grades of fuel and refinement, distinct types of energy, what power is and more.
Trevor and course participants were tasked with the challenge of stripping down an ISF 2.8L engine to the core.
The activity showed them how the components interact with each other. Afterwards, they pieced the engine back to its original form.
QSOL aids technicians
Drummond also taught the class how the program QuickServe OnLine (QSOL) assists technicians in their daily work, and various exhaust aftertreatments that protect the environment from otherwise harmful exhaust by-products produced when burning diesel fuel.
Reflecting on the course’s usefulness to occupational health and safety, Trevor said it enabled him to better understand the work of technicians on the shop floor.

Customer-driven approach drives new PGEN project
Last year, the Singapore project team completed a hyperscale data centre project.
Eighteen QSK95 generators, placed in customised enclosures, were installed into a high-rise building.
The process required much calculation and organisation. The generators, each weighing 30 tonnes, were installed by using a crane to lift and slot them to their designated floors. Every movement was executed slowly with utmost control to prevent damage.
Through precise communication, careful coordination and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the project was completed within the two day time frame.
Shane Rigney, Asia Pacific Project Management Leader, expressed his admiration for the outstanding teamwork displayed by the team and their remarkable dedication to the job.
“Their commitment and accomplishments in such a challenging environment were truly commendable,” he said.
During the installation, the project team prioritised the safety of all individuals onsite, including customer representatives and contractors. The results left the customer highly satisfied.
Asia Pacific Data Centre Project Manager Adam Isbister praised the team for their customer-driven approach.
“They met critical milestones and exceeded customer expectations. They put great emphasis on fire safety and close adherence to redundancy requirements specified for the project,” he said.

The Asia Pacific Power Generation team collaborated with their Indonesian distributor, PT Altrak 1978 (PTA), to participate in the Indonesia Cloud & Datacentre Convention.
It was the first time the Cummins team had taken part in the popular data centre show, held at the Shangri-la Hotel in Jakarta.
The onsite team engaged with many visitors at the booth and made new contacts. The PTA team greatly appreciated the opportunity to speak and promote its CPG distributorship and showcase its capabilities to data centre stakeholders. It was an overall success, with the Cummins booth receiving many compliments from the organiser, fellow sponsors and visitors.

Turtle monitoring in West Pilbara
Cummins Karratha employees volunteered in a turtle monitoring and beach clean-up community event as part of the West Pilbara Turtle Program (WPTP).
WPTP is a partnership between the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, and the Parks and Wildlife Service. The program aims to:
• increase awareness of marine turtles in the West Pilbara area
• monitor numbers of nesting marine turtles by identifying and counting tracks
• determine nesting success
• record evidence of impactsof human interference and feral animal predation on beaches.
Flatback turtles (Natatordepressus) are the main species the program monitors. They are endemic to Australia and all the species’ known breeding sites occur only on Australian beaches.
On the day, volunteers sighted 250 to 300 turtle nests spread across the beach and recorded a total of 10 new nests. They were also educated on turtle monitoring and the ways technology is used to help monitor and assist turtle nesting.
Employees also conducted a clean up at Nickol West Park in Karratha, which was fulfilling because it is a spot where many spend personal time with their families.
Participant feedback was that they found the event extremely interesting and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to support their community.
