Abstract Lung transplantation is an operation that gives people with end-stage lung disease the opportunity to live longer than their presumed life expectancy was before surgery, however there are several health problems following the transplantation. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe the physical and psychosocial health problems that occur after lung transplantation in adults. The study was a theoretical review of science-based literature. The physical health problems following lung transplantation are primary graft dysfunction, hyperacute, acute and chronic rejection, various infections, druginduced side effects and pain. Psychosocial health problems following lung transplantation are difficulty adjusting to life changes after lung transplantation, mood disorders, sexual problems and medication induced psychosocial health problems. The results of this study also revealed that several health problems are related to each other. The incidence of bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome is increased by primary graft dysfunction, graft rejections and recurrent infections. Bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome, which is the main obstacle to the longevity of life to people with lung transplants, is also a factor that contributes to anxiety and depression. Rejections of the graft must be prevented by taking immunosuppressive drugs, but these in turn increase the risk of
