Así es, estuve en 2021 con BN Polo, la realidad es que disfruté mucho de una temporada increíble, hacía cerca de diez años que no venía a Sotogrande. Es increíble ver cómo sigue creciendo y evolucionado el torneo cada año, como las canchas son mejores aún y ver cómo progresa el torneo y la competitividad. Aquel año se escapó la Copa de Plata en una gran final… por los pelos, contra Ayala [ríe]. Esperemos que este año puede quitarme esa espinita y levantar uno de los trofeos.

Absolutamente. Ha crecido mucho en infraestructuras, en calidad, en número de equipos en el Alto, en espacios para el torneo y atención a los equipos y los polistas. Se nota esa dedicación, sólo hace falta ver el fixture con los equipos participantes tanto en el Alto, como en el Mediano y bajo. El torneo crece año a año y eso se ve también en la calidad de los equipos y grandes organizaciones presentes, que venga a jugar Dubai, Park Place o Marqués de Riscal dice mucho del nivel que se está consolidando en Sotogrande. Y con el Mediano pasa igual.

Indeed, in 2021 I was with BN polo, the truth is that I really enjoyed an incredible season, it had been ten years since I had come to Sotogrande. It is incredible to see how the tournament continues to grow and evolve each year, how the pitches are even better and how the tournament and competitiveness progresses. That year you missed out on the Silver Cup in a great final... it was so close, against Ayala (laughs). Let’s hope I can get that monkey off my back this year and win one of the trophies.

The 22 goals are returning to Sotogrande this season in the High HCP, is it a big leap in terms of quality and the destination in terms of professional polo?

Completely. It has grown a lot in terms of infrastructures, quality, the number of High HCP teams, spaces for the tournament, and the care of teams and polo players. That dedication is felt, you only have to see the fixture with the teams participating in both the High, and Medium and Low categories. The tournament is growing each year and that is also seen in the quality of the teams and great organisations present,thefactthatDubai,ParkPlaceandMarquésdeRiscal are coming says a lot about the level that is being established in Sotogrande. And the same goes for the Medium handicap.

Este año compites con Park Place, una organización con la que llevas unido varios año, ¿cierto?

Asíes.Arranquéhace5/6añosconParkPlace,desdesusinicios en el Alto, y tengo que agradecer que Andrey [Borodin] ha sido muy generoso conmigo, con mi familia y la organización es una maravilla. Es una apuesta firme y constante por tratar de tener los mejores jugadores, los mejores caballos y una estructura de más alto nivel internacional.

Enlazas una temporada de mucho éxito, con esa victoria en el US Open…

Una temporada espectacular, Desde hace tres años veníamos jugando el Alto en Estados Unidos y siempre pasábamos muy cerca;disputamosfinalesyestábamosaunpasodelograralgo grande.Porsuerteesteañoseconsiguió.Hansidotemporadas de mucho trabajo, de esfuerzo y como te comentaba, de una gran apuesta de Park Place por situarse como una de las mayores organizaciones de polo y su constancia en buscar las mejores herramientas para siempre ser competitivos en todas las copas en las que participa. Se merecían todos ellos esa victoria y un US Open es una manera fantástica de ver recompensado ese trabajo.

ThisyearyouarecompetingwithParkPlace,anorganisation you have been with for several years, right?

Indeed. I began 5/6 years ago with Park Place, since its beginnings in the High handicap, and I have to thank Andrey (Borodin) who has been very generous with me, with my family, and the organisation is wonderful. It is a firm and constant commitment to try to have the best players, the best horses and a structure at the highest international level.

You are arriving right after a very successful season, with the victory in the US Open...

A spectacular season, for three years we had been playing the High category in the United States, and we always came very close; we competed in finals and we were a stone’s throw from achieving something great. Luckily, we achieved that this year. They have been seasons with lots of work, effort, and as I was saying, a great commitment by Park Place to establish itself as one of the greatest polo organisations and its perseverance seeking the best tools to always be competitive in all the cups it competes in. Everyone deserved that victory and a US Open is a fantastic way to see that work rewarded.

Obviamente, y más aún en las exigencias que se mueve Park Place. Siempre aspira a tener los mejores caballos, las mejores herramientas y cuando un equipo te da todo para ganar existe esa responsabilidad de estar en liza. Estados Unidos e Inglaterra son temporadas, por contexto, en las que estás muy metido en la dinámicadelacompetición.EnSotograndeseda lacircunstanciadeunirtodoesoyqueademáses lugar maravilloso para la familia. Hay sitios muy lindosparasaliracomer,disfrutardelaplaya,jugar al golf y pasar momentos distendidos también fueradelacanchadepolo.Esalgoquesedisfruta deunamaneraespecial.

A very demanding season?

Obviously, and even more so with the demands of Park Place. It always aims to have the best horses, the best tools, and when a team give you all that to win there is the responsibility to compete. You know that it is a sport and sometimes, the ball ends up outside the goal instead of inside; but winning is always the aim.

With that challenge, Park Place is coming to Sotogrande?

Park Place is always present to compete, it goes out to win. That doesn’t always happen, but that is the aim of this organisation.

On a family level, Sotogrande is also a different place during the season?

To provide some context, the United States and England are seasons where you are really immersedinthecompetitiondynamic.Sotogrande brings all of that together and it is also a wonderful place for family. There are really beautiful places to go out to eat, enjoy the beach, play golf and also have relaxed times away from the polo pitch. It is something that is especially enjoyed.

Es un gran proyecto, un equipo con muchas ganas, con cuatro jugadores que pelean y que tratan de organizarse, con una mentalidad ganadora muy importanteyanivelparticular,esmuyespecialparamíjugar para ‘La Hache’, que es el club que fundé hace diez años y poder competir la Triple Corona. La clave es esta unión y el sueñodelucharporganarelAbierto.

¿EstámásabiertalaluchaporlaTripleCorona?

En ese sentido, cada vez está más parejo y equilibrado. Hoy sevenmásequiposconorganizaciónparaganartorneosen la Triple Corona y más abajo también, se ven más equipos con todo lo necesario para subir el nivel y alcanzar a los de arriba.Sevedesdehacedos/tresaños,conLaEnsenada,Cría LaDolfina,etc.Dóndeyasejuegadeigualaigual,nosepuede desestimaraninguno.

¿Ytuscomienzosenelpolo,Hilario?

Conelpolomeiniciéenelcampo,conmipadreymihermano. Mipadresiempresededicóaentrenarcaballosdepoloylos dosleayudábamos.Comenzamosacompetirenla‘Potrillos’ yotrostorneossimilares,con10/11añosyunpocomástarde, con 16, apareció la oportunidad de ir a Holanda a jugar en Centroeuropa unos meses, junto a Salva, ahí fue la primera ocasióndetomarelpolocomoalgoprofesional,quepodíamos dedicarnosaello;anteriormenteeraunaafición.Comenzamos aviajarytodofueevolucionandodeunamaneramuynatural.

¿Cómotediviertescuandoestásfueradelascanchas?

Me encanta pasar tiempo con la familia, obviamente, pero dónde más disfruto es cuando nos vamos todos al campo, estoyconmishijas,conloscaballosyestarenlanaturalezaes comomástranquilomeencuentroyfeliz.

Lots of enthusiasm. It is a great project, a team with lots of enthusiasm, with four players that battle and that try to organise themselves, with a very important winning mentality and on a personal level, it is very special for me to play for “La Hache”, which is the club I founded ten years ago and to be able to compete in the Triple Crown. The key is that union and the dream of battling to win the Open.

Is the battle for the Triple Crown very open?

It that regard, it is increasingly even and balanced. Now, there are more teams with the organisation to win tournaments in the Triple Crown, and lower down too, there are more teams with everything necessary to increase the level and reach those at the top. This has been noticeable for two/three years, with La Ensenada, Cría La Dolfina, etc. Where they are already playing on an equal footing, you cannot rule anyone out.

And what about your beginnings in polo, Hilario?

With polo, I got started in the countryside, with my father and brother. My father always worked training polo horses and the two of us helped him. We began competing in the “foals” category and other similar tournaments, aged 10/11 and a little later, aged 16, the opportunity emerged to go to Hilland to play in Central Europe for a few months, alongside Salva, that was the first chance to take polo as something profession, to devote ourselves to it; before that it was a hobby. We began travelling and everything gradually evolved very naturally.

How do you have fun away from the pitch?

I love spending time with family, of course, but where I have most fun is when we all go to the countryside, I am with my daughters, with horses, and being in nature is when I am most at peace and happiest.

Many thanks and good luck for this season, on our part we have done everything possible, for the last two seasons we have interviewed the successive champions of the Gold Cup (“Sapo” Caset in 2021 and “Jeta” Castagnola in 2022).

La victoria de Sainte Mesme en la Copa de Bronce otorga el primer entorchado de una temporada muy especial con el regreso de los 22 goles al Alto HCP.

The 52nd Andalucía International Polo Tournament is getting underway. For over a month, the resort is becoming the global epicentre of one of the world’s most select sports. Victory for Sainte Mesme in the Bronze Cup offers the first victory of a very special season with the turn of the 22 goal High HCP category.

El mejor polo del mundo se concentra en Sotogrande. Durante más de un mes, varias de las mayores organizaciones internacionales de este selecto deporte y algunas de sus máximas estrellas se concentran en la urbanización para disputar el 52º Torneo Internacional de Polo Andalucía. Sin duda, una de las ediciones más especiales, competitivas y emocionantes con el regreso de los 22 goles al Alto HCP.

Un nivel Alto que ya tiene el primer de los ganadores de la temporada, tras la disputa de la Copa de Bronce, un inicio por todo lo alto con todo preparado en Ayala Polo Club para el mayor evento deportivo del verano en el sur de Europa.

The world’s best polo is gathering in Sotogrande. For over a month, several of the biggest international organisations in this select sport and some of the top stars are gathering in the resort to compete in the 52nd Andalucía International Polo Tournament. Undoubtedly, one of the most special, competitive, and exciting editions with the return of the 22 goals to the High HCP category.

A high level that already has the first of the winners of the season, after the Bronze Cup took place, a start in great style with everything ready at Ayala Polo for the biggest sporting event of summer in southern Europe.

El conjunto de Sainte Mesme se proclamó ganador de la Copa de Bronce de Alto HCP tras superar en la final, con un conduntente 17-9, al cuarteto de Dos Lunas La Hacienda. El equipo formado por: Robert Strom, Carlos M. Ulloa, Marcos Araya y Santi Laborde logró aguantar el acompasado y parejo inicio del encuentro y demostrar su potencial ofensivo a partir del tercer chukker y lograr una ventaja suficiente durante el resto del encuentro hasta el marcado final.

También conocemos los ganadores de la Copa de Bronce en el resto de categorías. En el Mediano HCP, Amana Polo superó por 11-7 al conjunto de Electric Polo para llevarse el trofeo; mientras que en el Bajo HCP fue Cotton House quién se impuso a La Capilla Strabrock, por un marcador final de 9-4,5.

Aún restan los dos torneos más importantes de la temporada, como son la Copa de Plata y la Copa de Oro. Destacar también que de manera especial, por el 25 Aniversario de El Periódico de Sotogrande, también se celebrará una Copa Especial con motivo de la efeméride del emblemático periódico.

Respecto al plantel en Sotogrande, resaltar la presencia de algunos de los mejores polistas del mundo que estarán durante todo el mes en Sotogrande. Vuelven los hermanos Castagnola con el equipo de Dubai, Pablo MacDonough, en MB o el conjunto de moda en Inglaterra, Park Place que intentará acabar con el dominio ejercido por Dubai el pasado ejercicio. Hilario Ulloa (9 goles) y Juan Britos (8) lideran la organización.

The Sainte Mesme team was crowned winner of the High HCP Bronze Cup after winning the final, with a resounding 17-9, against the team Dos Lunas La Hacienda. El equipo formado por Corinne Ricard, junto a Polito Pieres, Alejandro Muzzio y Marcos Araya, se impuso en una de las competiciones internacionales de polo más importantes del mundo y del calendario internacional.

La final estuvo muy igualada en todo momento. Aunque el inicio, con mucha fuerza de Murus Sanctus superando en 3-1 durante el primer chukker hizo pensar que el partido se definiría pronto, el descanso dibujo un empate a siete tantos.

The team formed by Corinne Ricard, alongside Polito Pieres, Alejandro Muzzio and Marcos Araya, won one of the world’s and international calendar’s most important polo competitions.

The final was very close at all times. Although the start, with a lot of strength from Murus Sanctus up 3-1 during the first chukker made it seem that the match would be settled quickly, the break brought a seven-goal draw.

En la segunda mitad, el tándem de Pieres y Muzzio se puso a trabajar y marcar distancias en el marcador aunque unos buenos ataques de La Magdeleine los puso más cerca en el marcado durante el último chukker. In the second half, the pairing of Pieres and Muzzio got to work and tightened the score on the scoreboard although good attacks by La Magdeleine brought them closer on the scoreboard during the last chukker. Lastly, a goal by the MVP Polito Pieres sealed everything for Murus Sanctus to lift the Queen’s Cup for the first time ever.

Fue tras un final de infarto, finalmente, Lukin Monteverde quién deshizo la igualdad con un fantástico gol que sirvió para que levantase por primera vez en su historia la Gold Cup el conjunto de UAE Polo.

El cuarteto formado por K. Smith, Monteverde, Tommy Beresford y Barto Castagnola pudieron imporner finalmente su victoria en un vibrante encuentro que pese a un inicio arrollado de UAE Polo, Dubai, de la mano de un gran Jeta Castagnola. Por más que trataba de despegarse UAE, Dubai se mantenía cerca en el marcador.

Fue finalmente, en el definitivo sexto chukker cuando con poco más de un minuto por jugarse, una magistrar jugada con Monteverde y Castagnola, una combinación de muchos quilates de polo, permitió a UAE Polo subirse por primera vez al podio de Cowdray.

It was a heart stopping final, in the end it was Lukin Monteverde who broke the deadlock with a fantastic goal that enabled the UAE Polo to win the Gold Cup for the first time in their history.

The team formed by K. Smith, Monteverde, Tommy Beresford and Barto Castagnola were ultimately able to take victory in a pulsating game despite a very strong start from UAE Polo, Dubai, alongside a great Jeta Castagnola. No matter how much UAE tried to take off, Dubai stayed close on the scoreboard.

Ultimately, in the last sixth chukker with little over a minute to play, a masterful move with Monteverde and Castagnola, a top quality combination, enabled UAE Polo to take to the podium for the first time at Cowdray.

La Copa de Naciones de Polo, lanzada por la federación francesa de polo y el Polo Club de Chantilly, fue un verdadero éxito: con ocho equipos participantes y más de diez días de competición por todo lo alto. Todo ello con un cierre de cinco estrellas, gracias a una emocionante final que cayó del lado de PACA Francia, un competitivo equipo formado por cuatro jóvenes polistas, todos de formación francesa. Esta primera final enfrentó a Francia contra Corea del Sur, una joven federación de polo deseosa de desarrollar el deporte en su país y posicionarse en el mapa internacional del polo. Un primer éxito con su clasificación para esta final en Chantilly.

Corea tuvo que enfrentarse a una joven y ambiciosa selección francesa, que tomó el control de la final desde el principio. Así lo explicó el MVP (Julien Reynes): “Es una victoria del equipo, como era un torneo por equipos jugamos desde la colectividad y así conseguimos todos los triunfos. Al inicio, la final estaba muy cerrada pero logramos abrir el juego y ahí fue cuando marcamos la diferencia, el año pasado ganamos un torneo del mismo nivel con este equipo, y eso demuestra que estamos en por el buen camino. Estamos encantados de haber ganado esta primera edición, ya que la Polo Nations Cup está llamada a convertirse en un torneo de referencia en el circuito internacional”.

The Nations Cup launched by the French polo federation and Polo Club de Chantilly, was a real success: with eight teams participating and more than ten days of competition in great style. All with a five-star ending, thanks to an exciting final that was won by PACA France, a competitive team formed by four young polo players, all trained in France. This first final saw France clash against South Korea, a young polo federation hoping to develop polo in its country and position itself on the international polo map. A first success with its qualification for the final in Chantilly.

Korea had to face a young and ambitious French side that took control of the final from the outset. As the MVP (Julien Reynes) explained: “It is a team victory, as it was a team tournament we played as a group and that is how we achieved all the victories. To begin with, the final was very close, but we managed to open up pay and that was when we made the difference, last year we won a tournament of the same level with this team, and that shows that we are on the right path. We are delighted to have won this first edition, as the Polo Nations Cup is destined to become a benchmark tournament on the international circuit.”

Para David Ko, el capitán coreano (mejor jugador amateur), la clasificación para la final fue una victoria en sí misma: “Estar en la final fue una gran sensación, fue bastante inesperado, pero estuvimos aquí gracias en particular a nuestros dos jugadores profesionales, Santiago Irastorza y Tito Guiñazu. Ser MVP es una cosa, pero sobre todo es un gran comienzo para el polo coreano. Este tipo de torneos nos enseñan a jugar mejor, y volveremos el próximo año para la Polo Nations Cup y antes de eso para otros torneos importantes en Francia, como el Open de France aquí en septiembre. El polo todavía está en pañales en Corea, pero espero que podamos traer más jugadores a Francia el próximo año”.

Esta primera y “joven” Copa de Naciones está destinada a convertirse en un gran acontecimiento. Su concepto ya ha conquistado a varias naciones nuevas, que han manifestado su interés en participar el próximo año, el año olímpico. Como suele pasar estos días en el Polo Club de Chantilly, este día de la final fue hermoso... pero quedan muchos más, comenzando por el próximo torneo del mismo nivel que comienza esta semana, el Charity Cup, y sobre todo el Open de France el próximo mes de septiembre, donde se ha anunciado la participación de al menos una veintena de equipos.

For David Ko, the Korean captain (best amateur player), qualifying for the final was a victory in itself: “Being in the final was a great feeling, it was quite unexpected, but we were here thanks in particular to our two professional players, Santiago Irastorza and Tito Guiñazu. Being MVP is one thing, but above all it is a great start for Korean polo. This type of tournaments teaches us to play better, and we will return next year for the Polo Nations Cup and before that for other important tournaments in France, such as the French Open here in September. Polo is still in its infancy in Korea, but I hope that we can bring more players to France next year.”

This first and “young” Nations Cup is destined to become a great event. Its concept has already conquered several new nations, who have shown their interest in participating next year, the Olympic year. As is normally the case over these days at Polo Club de Chantilly, this final day was beautiful...but there are lots more to go, beginning with the next tournament of the same level, which is beginning this week, the Charity Cup, and especially the French Open in September, with the participation of at least twenty teams announced.

A great opportunity to talk with Julio Zavaleta, the club’s Polo Manager, learn about all the news this season and upcoming projects. It is a quality destination that does not stop growing in tournaments, teams and players. A good example was the Polo Rider Cup.

¿Cómo ha sido la temporada hasta ahora?

Estamos en una temporada alta, muy buena. Tuvimos la Polo Rider Cup, que fue un éxito, con 12 equipos participantes. También tuvimos la Copa de Oro con 8 equipos, celebrada un poco antes. Empezamos a jugar torneos de fin de semana en abril, mayo y junio, y en julio tuvimos la Copa Internacional de Polo con 12 equipos. Así que estamos disfrutando de una gran temporada, estamos muy contentos y a la espera de comenzar una nueva copa: Alula Challenge.

¿Puedes darnos algunos detalles de ese nuevo trofeo, Alula Challengue?

Alula, el nuevo lugar en Arabia Saudita, un proyecto conjunto con el club. Organizaremos ese torneo aquí y luego organizaremos un torneo en enero, en Alula. El club esta muy activo, tal vez más activo que el año pasado con la Rider Cup y otros torneos que tuvimos muchos jugadores.

Ese fuerte impulso se puede ver en el crecimiento de jugadores y equipos…

Creo que es una continuación de la temporada del año pasado, con record de inscritos y los equipos también acabaron muy contentos con las canchas, el club, el nivel de polo... por lo tanto, seguimos por el mismo camino. Además la Polo Rider Cup añadió un gran revuelo durante junio. Debido a eso, conseguimos una temporada más larga, con muchos equipos, a un alto nivel. La verdad es que el inicio del verano, especialmente junio, es un mes muy bueno en términos de clima, y en Saint Tropez no hay demasiada gente, ni demasiado tráfico. Tenemos un clima muy bueno, los campos son muy buenos y en junio la gente descubrió algo nuevo que no conocían. Todavía nos queda un largo camino por recorrer en el verano europeo”.

How has the season been so far?

We are in a high season, very good. We had the Polo Rider Cup, which was a success, with 12 participating teams. We also had the Gold Cup with 8 teams, held a little earlier. We started playing weekend tournaments in April, May and June, and in July we had the International Polo Cup with 12 teams. So we are enjoying a great season, we are very happy and waiting to start a new cup: Alula Challenge.

Can you give us some details of that new trophy, Alula Challengue?

Alula, the new venue in Saudi Arabia, a joint project with the club. We will organize that tournament here and then we will organize a tournament in January, in Alula. The club is very active, perhaps more active than last year with the Rider Cup and other tournaments that we had many players.

That strong momentum can be seen in the growth of players and teams...

I think it’s a continuation of last year’s season, with a record number of registrations and the teams also ended up very happy with the fields, the club, the level of polo... therefore, we continue on the same path. In addition the Polo Rider Cup added a stir during June. Because of that, we got a longer season, with many teams, at a high level. The truth is that the beginning of the summer, especially June, is a very good month in terms of weather, and in Saint Tropez there are not too many people, nor too much traffic. We have a very good climate, the fields are very good and in June people discovered something new that they did not know about. We still have a long way to go in the European summer.”

¿Cómo continuará la temporada de Saint Tropez durante el resto del año?

Organizamos la Copa Ambassadors Argentine Beef en las últimas dos semanas de julio y, como dije antes, luego vendrá el Alula Challenge y la Federation’s Cup, que traerán a muchos equipos a jugar en agosto. También en los primeros días de septiembre tendremos un torneo para cerrar la temporada.

¿Nos puedes adelantar algo con algunos proyectos de futuro?

En el Club siempre pensamos cómo seguir creciendo y estamos trabajando en un nuevo proyecto para organizar un torneo con un sistema de puntos, algo innovador para el polo en esta región. Lo estamos estudiando poder llevarlo adelante y ya lo hemos propuesto a algunos patrones y fue bastante bien recibido, así que tenemos que trabajar un poco más en ello, pero tenemos muchos proyectos nuevos para el próximo año.

How will the Saint Tropez season continue for the rest of the year?

We organize the Ambassadors Argentine Beef Cup in the last two weeks of July and, as I said before, then there will be the Alula Challenge and the Federation’s Cup, which will bring many teams to play in August. Also in the first days of September we will have a tournament to close the season.

Can you tell us something about some future projects?

At the Club we always think about how to continue growing and we are working on a new project to organize a tournament with a points system, something innovative for polo in this region. We are studying it to be able to carry it out and we have already proposed it to some skippers and it was quite well received, so we have to work a little more on it, but we have many new projects for next year.

Un placer contar contigo en las páginas de nuestra revista. Eres uno de los rostros más conocidos de la televisión, informativamente hablando. Cuéntanos un poco más sobre ti, cómo nace tu pasión por el periodismo y ese viaje hasta acabar en los informativos de Atresmedia.

Desde pequeña siempre tuve una gran vocación por el periodismo. Esa afición siguió creciendo hasta convertirse en un objetivo real, decidí formarme y hacer la carrera de periodismo. Me marché a vivir a Estados Unidos y conseguí trabajar en la CNN. Más tarde surgió la oportunidad de comenzar mi aventura en Antena 3.

¿Siempre fue tu pasión dedicarte a la comunicación?

Desde siempre quise dedicarme a la comunicación. Desde el principio noté que se me daba bien hablar en público, expresarme, crear opinión y por supuesto, con la práctica, el comunicarme, entrevistar, etc. Se convirtió en algo cotidiano. Se podría decir que era una cualidad innata.

Eres una periodista todoterreno y con muchas iniciativas en diferentes plataformas. ¿Dónde te sientes más cómoda? ¿Televisión, radio, prensa, medios digitales,…?

Así es. Me considero todoterreno y a mis alumnos se lo intento inculcar diciéndoles que hay que saber hacer de todo. Es cierto que me siento más cómoda en la parte audiovisual, porque me encanta la comunicación no verba, todo lo que se trasmite con los ojos, con la mirada y con la risa. Es mi hábitat en el que me desenvuelvo de una manera más natural.

I have always had a great vocation for journalism since I was little. That passion continued to grow until it became a real aim, I decided to train and do the degree in journalism. Además, lleva un año como coach y me gusta trasmitir los beneficios de saber gestionar nuestras emociones, conocernos, ser más comprensivos con nosotros mismos. Nació como una gran ilusión y que por fortuna se ha cumplido, hace ya un año que vio la luz. Hablar en público, comunicar, es imprescindible. La primera impresión eslaimagenquetenemos,nosolodel físico sino de nuestra forma de ser. La segundaeslacomunicaciónycreoque es imprescindible en todas las facetas personales y profesiones. Creo que a través de la palabra se pueden hacer cosas maravillosas puedes convencer, quelagenteteentienda.

Information has completely moved to the digital world. How are you experiencing that process? You are a great supporter of online communication through Social Networks.

I have been a great defender of it. The more platforms there are to communicate the better and on social networks I live to convey sport, physical health and the issues that concern people to the community. Also, I have spent a year as a coach and I like to convey the benefits of being able to manage our emotions, knowing ourselves, being more understanding with ourselves. Therefore, I think it is a wonderful field for conveying information. Now, everyone has the opportunity to create their own media empire. I am a clear defender of good values.

Howdoyouapproachanddifferentiate between you work life and personal life on social networks?

My social networks are more professional than personal, I maintain certain red lines with my private life, such as not showing my child, which meansthatalargepartofmypersonal life is lost. I maintain that boundary between my professional life and my privacy. I only share what pertains to me,forexample,mynewbook.Itryto convey who I am, but while knowing that people around be don’t like to be shown.

We know that you are also a real entrepreneur of communication and a teacher in different courses and universities. Tell us a little more about these projects and especially about “Learning to communicate.”

Sabemos, por tus raíces argentinas, que eres una gran aficionada al polo ¿Cómo te llega esa pasión por el polo y el mundo del caballo?

A mi madre le encantaba el polo y siempre que vamos a Sotogrande es una visita obligada y no te lo digo sólo por el deporte [ríe]. De joven también he salido por las noches al polo. Todo lo relacionado me puede, mi debilidad es esa. Llegué de Argentina con 4 años y voy todos los años, mis padres con 44 años llegaron. Te crías con dos padres argentinos con deportes como el pádel, el polo, los he mamado desde pequeña, me siento muy vinculada y es bueno mantener esas raíces.

Do you think that the current generation in information is more or less prepared than the next? What are the keys?

When I was young I also went outatnighttothepolo.Iamcrazyabout everything related to it; it is my weakness. I arrived from Argentina at the age of 4 and I go every year, my parents arrived at the age of 44. You grow up with two Argentine parents, with sports such aspadel,polo,Ihavebeenraisedonthem asayounggirl,Ifeelreallylinkedtothem anditisgoodtomaintainthoseroots.

En Sotogrande es una visita obligada todos los veranos, no me quedo todo el mes, pero siempre me quedo una semana o 10 días. Siento mucha paz, simplemente puedo decir que meencanta,meencantalaurbanización,elgolf,disfrutarde sus playas y que mi hijo disfrute de ellas. Sotogrande tiene todo eso y es lo que lo hace tan especial. Particularmente, el golf es algo que me apasiona, no solo practicarlo, ver y seguir a gente que lo practica y profesionales.

¿Cuándo no estás frente a cámara, cómo te gusta divertirte? ¿Cuáles son tus principales aficiones?

Soy una persona muy familiar, me gusta viajar en familia. Somos cuatro hermanos, todos con hijos, y nos gusta viajar juntos. Mi vida gira en torno a mi hijo, mi familia y amigos. Además, tengo mucha suerte de tener a mis amigos de siempre y me encanta preparar asados argentinos y reunirme con ellos. De hobbies, me encanta el deporte y todo lo que tenga que ver con el cerebro, salud mental, crecimiento personal. Me ilusiona mucho aprender y estudiar. Ahora mismo estoy estudiando psicología, pero para mi no es una obligación, es una pasión.

¿Qué reto personal y profesional te fijas a corto plazo?

Mi libro, en el que estoy inmersa sobre coach y psicología; ése es mi reto ahora mismo a corto plazo. Y en un futuro algo más próximo, sí me gustaría crear un programa de ayudas, en el que aportar valores, en que yo como psicóloga y periodista pudiera unir esas dos pasiones.

Se acerca una nueva Temporada Argentina y la Asociación Argentina de Polo (AAP) dio a conocer las fechas del calendario para la próxima temporada de primavera, pero con algunas sorpresas. No solo en los nuevos equipos que comenzaron a diagramarse al final de la temporada pasada, sino también en el cambio de orden de los torneos más importantes del mundo.

La temporada comenzará en fechas muy tempranas, con la novedad de que el primer torneo de la temporada de alto handicap será Hurlingham y Tortugas como habitualmente se acostumbraba. De esta manera, el 26 de septiembre se dará el pitazo inicial del 130 Abierto de Hurlingham, el cual tendrá su final el 7 de octubre.

Continuando con las novedades de la temporada argentina y en la previa de Palermo, Tortugas comenzará el 10 de octubre y tendrá su final el 28 del mismo mes. De esta manera, comienza la previa y la expectativa por ver quien se queda finalmente on el Abierto Argentino de Polo. Desde esta noticia, el mercado de pases comenzó a moverse y los equipos re formularon sus formaciones. Así fue como dias más tarde, Facundo Pieres confirmaba su salida del equipo con el cual había jugado durante toda su carrera en Argentina para llegar a La Natividad junto a Pablo Mac Donough y los hermanos Castagnola.

A new Argentine Season is approaching, and the Argentine Polo Association (AAP) announced the calendar dates for the upcoming spring season, but with some surprises. Not only in the new teams that began to emerge at the end of last season, but also in the change of order of the most important tournaments in the world.

With a surface area of 18m2, the flybridge by Ferretti Yachts 580 can be enjoyed at any time of day, thanks to functional and practical spaces that adapt to any need and perfect 360-degree contact with the water. On the prow, a large solarium runs across the entire breadth of the yacht, while on the starboard side, opposite the wheelhouse, a chaise longue and a small sofa provide maximum relaxation.

In turn, the stern is reserved for the dining area: a comfortable C-shaped sofa, with a teak table in the centre, goes around the back perimeter and, along with a multifunctional bar, provides the perfect setting for socialising.

The furnishings, unusually generous, even in comparison with vessels of the same level, are hidden behind a smoked glass screen that runs around the entire perimeter to the stern, ensuring that the vessel maintains its sporting appearance.

A fin de rendir homenaje al legado ganador del emblemático E-Type, Jaguar Classic fabrica siete exclusivos pares de vehículos E-Type ZP Collection. Estos últimos modelos de colección lujosos rinden homenaje a los primeros E-Type de competición, que se fabricaron bajo el nombre de proyecto “ZP”. Apenas unos meses después de la introducción del E-Type en 1961, estos vehículos E-Type de competición ligeramente modificados y diseñados por Jaguar celebraron sus primeras victorias.

In order to pay tribute to the winning legacy of the iconic E-Type, Jaguar Classic is manufacturing seven exclusive pairs of E-Type ZP Collection vehicles. These laste models in the luxury collection pay tribute to the first competitive E-Types, which were produced under the project name “ZP”. Barely a few months after the introduction of the E-Type in 1961, these slightly modified E-Type competition vehicles designed by Jaguar celebrated their first victories.

Each pair of vehicles from the E-Type ZP Collection includes a Drophead coupé and Fixed Head coupé finished with insignias inspired by the original sports cars which won races, and has undergone a complete restoration by the experts at Jaguar Classic Works in Coventry.

The two vehicles which served as inspiration are known for their numberplates, “ECD 400” and “BUY 1” and their drivers were Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori, respectively, in the decade of the 1960’s. The E-Type ZP collection includes details which commemorate the racing legacy of the E-Type.

Historic foundations

The exclusive Jaguar Classic vehicles pay tribute to the important history of the E-Type and take their name from the seven first cars, which were transformed into competition racing cars. They competed for the first time in April 1961, just one month after the production of the E-Type was presented globally at the Geneva Motor Show.

The driver of the E-Type “ECD 400” Indigo Blue which won at Oulton Park was Graham Hill, while the drier of the “BUY 1”, a Pearl Grey model, was Roy Salvadori, who finished third. Subsequently, Salvadori won at Crystal Palace on 21 May 1961. In total, between 1961 and 1964, the E-Types earned a resounding success and achieved 24 podiums.

Experiencia Classic Works

La Colección ZP se basa en la especificación de los E-Type Serie 1 3.8 fabricados entre 1961-1964. El motor 3.8 de 265 CV incorpora un radiador de aleación auténtico al estilo de 1961 con ventilador eléctrico de refrigeración y arranque electrónico para facilitar su uso en el día a día, así como un sistema de escape de acero inoxidable pulido. Combina de manera sencilla la autenticidad original con la facilidad de uso y la fiabilidad modernas.

Aunque cada vehículo tiene su propia personalidad y un legado único, ambos incorporan un conjunto de mejoras adicionales gracias al equipo de Jaguar Classic Works. Entre ellas, se incluye el sistema de infoentretenimiento Jaguar

A real tribute

Each vehicle includes a helmet from the period to match those that Hill and Salvadori wore at the time. The British expert Bill Vero, from Everoak, who has been manufacturing helmets since the 1950’s, was the craftsman responsible for their exquisite creation. The authentic and faithful reproductions are an extraordinary display piece that can be used, and they are adjusted by hand for each customer.

Although each vehicle has its own character and a unique legacy, both incorporate a series of additional improvements thanks to the Jaguar Classic Works team. They include the Jaguar Classic infotainment system with digital terrestrial radio, Bluetooth connectivity and navigation in order to offer 21st century entertainment.

The most important mechanical improvement is the specially designed five-speed manual gearbox which offers quieter and more comfortable driving. It has synchronised gears in all the ranges, helical gears and a reinforced cast

Uno de los episodios de la historia de Sotogrande que sus residentes guardan con más cariño es, sin duda, el del polo en la playa. Durante muchos años, este deporte se jugaba a orillas del mar. Aquellas canchas, situadas junto al club de playa El Cucurucho, eran, sin discusión, el punto de encuentro de las tardes de verano en Sotogrande. No se nos ocurre mejor forma de esperar la vuelta del polo a Sotogrande que recordando aquellas tardes.

“If it still existed, it would be the world’s best polo pitch”, with that fantastic rotundity and clarity, the good and beloved Tito Gómez (winner of the 1st Gold Cup in Sotogrande) defended the legendary and iconic polo pitch on the beach. Land that is currently occupied by the beach apartments (known as “Los Lacasitos”) and the Beach Club, currently Trocadero Sotogrande.

One of the episodes in the history of Sotogrande that its residents are most affectionate about is, undoubtedly, beach polo. For many years, this sport was played on the seashore.

Those pitches, located next to El Cucurucho beach club,were,undoubtedly,themeeting point of summer afternoons in Sotogrande. We can think of no better way to await the return of polo to Sotogrande than by remembering those afternoons.

Éste fue el germen de lo que hoy significa el polo de Sotogrande en el mundo entero, siendo uno de los pocos sitios en el que, internacionalmente hablando, es posible jugar al polo durante todo el año.

Hoy Sotogrande cuenta con grandes trofeos, entre los que destacan la «Copa de Oro Sotogrande», que viene jugandose desde el año 1971 y convierte a la urbanización en capital mundial de este deporte durante semanas.

Alongside Enrique Zóbel and his passion for polo, the legendary beach club would arrive that provided so many good memories for the first residents in Sotogrande. There, each afternoon, everyone gathered to watch the matches and have a fun time with friends. This was the seed of what polo now means in Sotogrande throughout the entire world, as one of the few places where, internationally speaking, it is possible to play polo throughout the entire year.

Today, Sotogrande has major trophies, notably including the “Sotogrande Gold Cup”, which has been played since 1971 and it makes the resort the global capital of this sport for weeks.

Y, para dar a los residentes un espacio donde fomentar la vida social, Mc Micking construyó frente al club de golf una zona de relax, con barras y casetas de brezo, que más tarde derivó en lo que hoy es el club de playa El Cucurucho.

Sotogrande latía a un ritmo pausado, sin prisas, de forma privada, ajena al mundo. Y eso, era lo que lo hacía tan especial.

Recordar que fue, por situar en contexto, en 1973 cuando se celebró la primera edición de Copa de Plata en el Torneo de Verano, cuyo vencedor fue el equipo de Sotogrande y precisamente, al año siguiente se inauguró la cancha de polo de Paniagua. Para fijar un poco más de información a este respecto, destacar su enorme importancia durante algunos momentos de la historia del resort, ya que un fuerte temporal y crecida de agua se llevó por delante la cancha de la playa en 1984.

Desde entonces, pasando por Paniagua, Río, Puente de Hierro, Los Pinos, Dos Lunas o Ayala Polo; el polo sigue muy vivo en Sotogrande. Larga vida a ambos.

And, in order to give residents a space to encourage social life, in front of the golf course McMicking built a relaxation area, with bars and huts made from heather, which later led to what is now El Cucurucho beach club.

Sotogrande beat at a slow rhythm, unhurried, privately, away from the world. And that was what made it so special.

It is worth remembering, to provide context, 1973 when the first edition of the Silver Cup took place in the Summer Tournament, whose winner was the Sotogrande team and indeed, the next year the Paniagua polo pitch was opened. To provide a little more information in this regard, it is worth highlighting its enormous importance during some moments in the history of the resort, as a heavy storm and flood destroyed the beach pitch in 1984.

Since then, from Paniagua to Río, Puente de Hierro, Los Pinos, Dos Lunas and Ayala Polo; polo remains very much alive in Sotogrande. We wish a long life to both of them.

He disfrutado muchísimo a lo largo de mi vida gracias al polo, jugándolo y viviendo muy de cerca su entorno, su mundo, su gente y por supuesto, con el equipo Dos Lunas presente en muchas temporadas en Sotogrande, así como con La Esquina en Argentina, cuna de este deporte.

La competitividad en el escalafón más alto del polo, en ocasiones, es muy dura, compleja y costosa, algo que puede comprobarse en Sotogrande cada verano. La organización de equipos con jugadores ‘dieces’ hacen que el salto de calidad sea muy importante pero también, atrae todas las miradas del mundo del polo al Torneo Internacional durante el mes de agosto. Aún así, Sotogrande es y puede ser mucho más. Sotogrande tiene mucho más que ofrecer al polo y al caballo más allá del verano.

Hace años el polo familiar era un valor muy auténtico ligado a Sotogrande. Disfrutar con la familia, con los amigos, de un polo de no tan alto nivel, pero igualmente competitivo y divertido era algo que traía equipos y patrones por docenas. Quizás, probablemente, ésa sea la llave para elevar el destino Sotogrande hacia un futuro de primer orden internacional.

Potenciar, reforzar e impulsar una temporada de primavera e inicio de verano con equipos de Mediano y Bajo, conseguiría extender un calendario muy atractivo para la zona y fijar a Sotogrande como epicentro durante una larga ventana del calendario. Incluso, puestos a imaginar, ¿por qué no ampliar la Copa de Bronce durante todo el mes de julio con un formato especial y diferente HCP? Sería muy innovador y un incentivo diferente.

Precisamente, sería importante aprovechar esa oportunidad, entre los meses de febrero y abril en los que nuestro clima es el factor diferencia respecto a Europa [con las heladas], para que patrones y jugadores hicieran y prepararan caballos nuevos. Sería una gran ocasión para convertir Sotgrande en un punto de referencia internacional.

Pero hay mucho más, Sotogrande tiene un brillo especial para el caballo y la Doma Clásica tiene un futuro impresionante en este lugar. Desde Dos Lunas llevamos años con esta visión y potenciando este aspecto al más alto nivel, incluso con caballos seleccionables para los JJ. OO. de París el próximo verano. Del mismo modo que Montenmedio es una referencia internacional esos meses en el Salto, entre otras disciplinas, Sotogrande puede hacerlo tanto en el mundo del polo como en la Doma. Algo que muy pocos lugares pueden permitirse. Sotogrande tiene la organización, los espacios y las herramientas para convertirse en el referente. Una buena primera piedra sería marcar una estrategia y apoyar algunas de las iniciativas que ya trabajan por este mismo objetivo, sumando esfuerzos.

Sotogrande es un lugar único para el caballo en todo su esplendor y por consecuencia un destino privilegiado para el Polo, la Doma y también el Salto, dispone de las infraestructuras y herramientas necesarias para triunfar, sólo falta creer en ello y apostar por esta realidad. Mientras tanto, ahora tocar disfrutar de esta magnífica temporada, con el regreso de los 22 goles al Alto HCP, sin perder de vista todo el potencial y futuro ecuestre que puede tener Sotogrande y su entorno más inmediato gracias a la apertura a un calendario de actividades más amplio, diverso y atractivo.

Polo is an exciting, intense, competitive, and unique sport, exciting like few others are worldwide. Throughout my life, I have had so much enjoyment thanks to polo, playing it and experiencing its environment up close, its world, its people and of course, with the Dos Lunas team present in many seasons in Sotogrande, as well as with La Esquina in Argentina, the birthplace of this sport.

Competition at the highest level in pol is sometimes very tough, difficult, and expensive, and this can be seen in Sotogrande each summer. The organisation of teams with “ten” players makes the leap in quality very significant but also attracts the attention of everyone in the polo world to the International Tournament during August. Even so, Sotogrande is and can be much more. Sotogrande has much more to offer to polo and the equestrian world beyond summer.

Years ago, family-based polo was an very authentic value linked to Sotogrande. Enjoying, alongside family and friends, polo that wasn’t at such a high level, but which was equally competitive and fun was something that brought dozens of teams and patrons. Perhaps, probably, that is the key to elevating the Sotogrande destination towards a first-class international future.

Promoting, strengthening and encouraging a spring season and start of summer with Medium and Low handicap teams, could prolong a very appealing calendar for the area and make Sotogrande the epicentre during a long window of the calendar. Even, if we can imagine, why not extend the Bronze Cup over the entire month of July with a special format and different HCP? It would be very innovative and a different incentive.

Precisely, it would be important to take advantage of this opportunity, between the months of February and April in which our climate is the difference factor with respect to Europe [with frost], so that skippers and players made and prepared new horses. It would be a great opportunity to turn Sotgrande into an international point of reference.

However, there is lots more, Sotogrande has a special shine for horses and Classical Dressage has an impressive future in this place. At Dos Lunas we have had this vision for years and we have encouraged this aspect at the highest level, even with horses that could be selected for the Olympic Games in Paris next summer. Likewise, just as Montenmedio is an international benchmark for months in Show Jumping, among other disciplines, Sotogrande can do so both in the world of polo and Dressage. Something that very few places can achieve. Sotogrande has the organisation, spaces, and tools to become the leader. A good foundation would be to establish a strategy and support some of the initiatives that are now working for this same objective, joining efforts.

Sotogrande is a unique place for horses in all their splendour and as a consequence, a privileged destination for Polo, Dressage, also Show Jumping, it has the infrastructures and tools needed to succeed, it is simply necessary to believe in it and commit to this reality.
