Maria Fadiman Ethnobotanist National Geographic Emerging Explorer (2006) Maria Fadiman is a conservationist, a TEDx speaker, and an Explorers Club Fellow who has worked in Costa Rica's rainforests as a naturalist and researcher. In her studies of native plants, she has focused on the cultural and environmental significance of cacao, coffee, and orchids.
