How to produce drawings using drawing equipment, freehand sketches, and computers. How to read and interpret detailed drawings and diagrams. How graphics relate to the design and manufacture of products.
How will I learn in this subject? Graphics has three inter- connected stands; 2-D graphics, 3-D graphics, and Applied Graphics. You will have learned lots of things in mathematics in Primary School that will be built on in Graphics. You will have knowledge of lines, shapes and textures, patterns and tones and this pervious learning is what your teacher will start with, the basic skills, and build upon them throughout the course. You will also explore graphics through the use of CAD (Computer Aided Design). How will this subject be useful to me? Graphics helps you to think in a more logical and creative way. You will be able to communicate information graphically using diagrams and sketches. You will have learned how to present information in a neat and organised fashion. The subject will be of use to you if you want to progress into career areas such as architecture, design or engineering. Assessment? Two Classroom-based Assessments: Communicating through sketching and Presentation of Research. Project (30%- completed in a 4-week window in 3rd Year). Written Examination (70% - set by the State Examinations Commission).
