IT - COMPUTING LEVEL 3 Equivalent to three A Levels, this is the latest study of current cyber security, games development, networking and hardware.
This advanced level vocational course involves theoretical and practical study of both computer and IT related topics. Previous students have progressed to university degree courses in computer gaming, ethical hacking and digital forensics. Forming part of our STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Maths) provision, it offers the opportunity to achieve internationally recognised qualifications, whilst learning in our well-equipped, specialist IT teaching rooms. We host our own independent network within our dedicated IT lab for you to install, test and maintain computer systems. You will learn key theories and skills and then can explore networking, hardware/software installation and maintenance in our hardware lab. The course has the most relevant education and training for potential computing employees, and those already employed in the industry. Throughout the course you will develop a range of personal skills and attitudes essential for successful performance in both working life and university study.

Course Content Topics you will cover include: • Using Social Media in Business • Website Development • Cyber Security and Incident Management • Cloud Storage and Collaboration Tools • IT Project Management • Computer Games Development Assessment is continuous and industry related, with assignments, tests, projects and practical work. You will sit one examination each year, with the rest of the course being assessed via practical work and coursework. All full-time students are required to study maths and English at the appropriate level. Please see page 8 for more details.
Entry Requirements • Five GCSE passes at grade C (grade 4) or above, (including maths and English) or a Merit or above in the BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Information Technology • Successful interview and initial assessment • You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for this subject area
