AGRICULTURE LEVEL 3 The programme gives you the experience, knowledge and qualifications necessary for a wide range of responsible posts in the agricultural industry. If you are flexible, enjoy working with livestock, crops and machinery and wish to progress to a career at supervisory and management level, then this is the course for you!
A balance between practical and theory sessions, gives you a real insight into the everyday work within industry and here on the College farm. As well as this, there are duties where you become a member of the farm team and work with them on a variety of tasks be it dairy, sheep, arable or estate work. You will enjoy trips and visits as well as visits from guest speakers which will keep you up-to-date with industry changes. A work experience day is built into the course to further enhance your employability skills. This qualification gives you the opportunity to study a range of specialist technical practical skills and knowledge that build upon the core skills of safe working practices in farming, livestock husbandry, crop production and operating agricultural machinery as well as business skills. You can then learn further specialist skills such as farm livestock health and nutrition, agricultural workshop practices, forage crop production or farm habitat management, be his on practical, a visit, with guest speakers or at shows.

Entry Requirements • Some practical farming experience or an interest in agriculture • Be at least 16 years of age at the beginning of the course 66 www.nsc.ac.uk
• Level 2 Diploma in Agriculture • Four GCSE passes at grade 4 (grade C) or above (including maths and English) or a Merit grade or above in a BTEC Level 2 qualification and equivalent maths and English • An appropriate NVQ Level 2 programme • A mature student demonstrating commitment to the course
