A NEW TWEED HERITAGE
CHANEL transforms precious materials into fabricinspired fine jewellery. Gabrielle Chanel, the founder of CHANEL, loved tweed so much that it inspired her to adapt it from being a staple of menswear into a flattering fabric for women – making her the first fashion designer to do so. She loved the softness and the irregularity of this handwoven Scottish woollen cloth and elevated it to a special status at the Maison to the point it became emblematic. From the iconic CHANEL tweed suit to handbags and watches, tweed has found its way onto various CHANEL designs as the decades have passed. Now, in 2020, CHANEL has opened a new chapter in this love affair – and an incredibly beautiful one at that. Using articulation techniques specially developed by the CHANEL High Jewellery Workshop, CHANEL artisans have breathed the vitality of movement into solid gold, layering and intertwining diamonds, pearls and sapphires on necklaces, rings and bracelets to create incredible textured effects. A total of 45 pieces take their place in this exceptional Tweed de CHANEL collection, which manages to convey the depth and richness of the fabric itself as well as its softness. Once again, the Maison has proven that its founder continues to inspire, with the unforgettable combination of daring and dazzling beauty.
