DAYS 6–13 I CAPE TOWN AND PHINDA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE, SOUTH AFRICA/ VICTORIA FALLS, ZAMBIA/CHOBE NATIONAL PARK, BOTSWANA In Cape Town, ride a cable car up Table Mountain and explore the Cape Peninsula. Visit Robben Island and the sites of Cape Town, or spend a day in the Cape Winelands. Continue to Phinda Private Game Reserve for two days on safari. Then fly to Zambia to encounter the incomparable Victoria Falls and enjoy a private sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Cross into Botswana to encounter the wildlife of Chobe National Park.
DAYS 1–5 I LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM/ FEZ, MOROCCO/ACCRA, GHANA Meet fellow travelers in London and fly by private jet to the medieval city of Fez. Explore stunning palaces and madrassas, see the Roman site of Volubilis, visit artisan workshops, or enjoy a private performance of Sufi music. Then experience Ghana’s lively culture in Accra, and travel along the coast to Elmina to visit its notorious “slave castle.”
DAYS 14–20 I ZANZIBAR, TANZANIA/ KIGALI AND VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, RWANDA/ROME, ITALY Fly to Zanzibar and take a walking tour of historic Stone Town. Visit a spice plantation and spot monkeys in Jozani Forest. Continue to Rwanda and travel to Volcanoes National Park for a full day of gorilla trekking. Search for golden monkeys with a National Geographic grantee and meet researchers at the Karisoke Research Center. Or stay in Kigali to tour the city’s sites and hear from survivors at the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Gather for a farewell dinner featuring local artisans, and fly to Rome the next day.
