DAYS 3–5 I DENALI NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE/ANCHORAGE Spend two full days exploring Denali's magnificent interior by foot or mountain bike from Denali Backcountry Lodge, one of National Geographic's “Top 10 Adventure Lodges of the World.” Continue to Anchorage. Denali Backcountry Lodge; Hotel Captain Cook Meals: 3B, 3L, 2D DAY 6 I SEWARD HIGHWAY/KENAI PENINSULA Travel the stunningly scenic Seward Highway on one of National Geographic’s “Drives of a Lifetime.” Ride the tram to the top of Mount Alyeska, and get up close to Alaska’s wild residents at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Seward Windsong Lodge | Meals: 1B, 1L, 1D DAYS 1–2 I FAIRBANKS, ALASKA/DENALI NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE Arrive in Fairbanks. Hear Iditarod tales from a trail veteran and interact with sled dogs. Ride the Denali Star, taking in the scenery from the train’s upper deck. Later, drive to our lodge deep in the heart of Denali, spotting moose, caribou, and grizzly bears along our route. DAYS 7–8 I KENAI FJORDS NATIONAL PARK/ANCHORAGE Cruise the coast of Kenai Fjords National Park, spotting all manner of marine life, including orcas, humpbacks, sea otters, and harbor seals; and see an advancing tidewater glacier calve chunks of ice into the water. Hike to the terminus of Exit Glacier, then return to Anchorage to catch your flight home. Seward Windsong Lodge | Meals: 2B, 1L, 1D

Jason Matthews Wildlife Photographer, Educator Jason Matthews is a certified master naturalist who specializes in wolf and bear ecology. He has been called an "encyclopedia of sled dog information" by the New York Times, and his work has appeared on the National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo WILD. He was recently part of a National Geographic grant team documenting brown bears and polar bears in the Alaskan Arctic. INFORMATION Dates: This expedition is offered from June through September.
