Layle McKelvey, United Airlines 2013 Supplier Diversity Champion
L
ayle McKelvey is the Supplier Diversity Manager at United Airlines. In this role, she serves as advocate for businesses owned by minorities, women, veterans and the LGBT community. She works to find opportunities within the whole of United including but not limited to Corporate Purchasing and Material Services, Corporate Travel, Commodity and OnBoard Purchasing, Corporate Purchasing, Warehousing and Distribution, Traffic and Transportation, Freight, Real Estate and Technology. Layle, who joined United in May of 2009, has previously held positions at Chevron in Marketing and at Dresser, Inc. in Strategic Sourcing and Logistics. At the latter, she built their Supplier Diversity Program from the ground up. She co-chairs the Houston Minority Supplier Development Council’s Supplier Diversity Advisory subcommittee and chairs their Expo Registration subcommittee. She is a corporate member of the Women’s Business Enterprise Council and the National Minority Supplier Development Council working in their Air Transportation Group as Secretary. She is past chair of the Supplier Diversity Group for the Institute of Supply Management Houston Chapter. She is also a member of the Urban League and the National Black MBA Association. Layle is also a member of The Texas Southern University Alumni Council where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Barbara Jordan/Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs and minored in Speech Communications.
