Chillin no Suzu My favorite picture book is Chillin no Suzu. This is sad revenge story. This story was written by Takashi Yanase. He is famous as the author of Anpanman. I will explain the synopsis. “There was a sheep named Chillin. He lived happily with his mother, but he was killed his mother by a wolf named War. Chillin decides to get stronger to take revenge on War. Then he visits War and asks him to be a disciple, and War accepts it. Over the years, Chillin grows stronger and grows into a terrifying wolf-like figure that doesn’t look like a sheep. War orders Chillin to attack the sheep as a final task. But in Chillin’s head, the day his mother was killed flashes back. And he kills War and avenges her…” The reason I like this book is that it’s a sad and left me with a bad feeling, which is unusual for a picture book. So, that’s why I’m impressed with this book, and reading it as an adult makes me think again. My favorite picture is that chillin grows into a terrifying wolflike figure. Also, my favorite scene is the last scene. It’s a scene where Chillin confesses what he thought of War and regrets his revenge. It’s very painful and sad. I recommend it not only to children but also to adults.

Best Onigiri I eat onigiri every day. Japanese people eat rice almost every day and eat onigiri more frequently. Onigiri is a rice ball. I often buy onigiri at the convenience store. There is a vast variety of onigiri at the convenience store. When I worry about what to buy at convenience store, I usually worry about onigiri. When I cook rice, I make onigiri myself. I think the onigiri I bought tastes better than the ones I made myself. There are two types of onigiri I like. One is grilled cod roe. I like its food texture popping bubble-wrap. It is salty and delicious. However, I am not a fan of the look. Second is umeboshi. Umeboshi is dried plum. It is very sour. When I eat onigiri with umeboshi, my appetite for food grows. Rice is not the only important things for onigiri. Nori is also particularly important for onigiri. Nori is roasted seaweed and it is no exaggeration to say that Nori determines taste. The best onigiri I had was Heshiko onigiri. Heshiko is fish pickled in ricebran paste. It is famous in Fukui. Fukui is my hometown. It is so heavy taste that is delicious. The smell is a little peculiar. It smells like sake. That is a good thing to have for drinks. Please try it.

What do you want to put in onigiri? I love onigiri. Today, there are many different types of onigiri. I will recommend my favorite onigiri among them. Onigiris I eat are basically from convenience stores. Therefore, I introduce some of the recommended onigiris sold at convenience stores. The simplest type of onigiri is the salt onigiri, which is simply onigiri with salt. Because it is simple, the taste of the rice is the key to its deliciousness. My highly recommended salt onigiri is “Salted Onigiri” sold at Seven-Eleven. Onigiri are usually served with nori, but despite the lack of nori, Salted onigiri can be eaten without getting tired of the strong salt flavor alone. There are so many onigiri filling. Among them, my favorite onigiri filling is salmon. My highly recommended salmon onigiri is Salmon Harami sold at Family Mart. Regular salmon onigiri are also delicious, with a light flavor and flaky texture, and the crispy nori goes well with the salmon. I like it too and eat it often. However, the Salmon Harami is by far the best, especially the salmon. It has a soft texture, is quite fatty, and has a very nice, slightly salty, strong flavor that goes very well with the rice and the not-so-crispy nori. If you like salmon, as it says on the package, you will absolutely love it. It is a little more expensive than other onigiri, but it tastes even better. Yamada, Maho

Onigiri and me First, I will explain why I like rice balls. I have liked rice balls since I was a young child. It’s small and easy to eat, but because it’s rice, it keeps me feeling full, so it’s very good. Also, if it is wrapped in wrap or seaweed, I’m glad to eat it with my hands clean. Next, I think about rice balls ingredients. I also like rice balls with ingredients gathered in the center, such as rice balls sold at convenience stores, but I prefer it with ingredients mixed throughout. The reason is that no matter what part I eat, it tastes good and delicious. As for the ingredients, I like salt the most. The appeal of salted rice balls is that they suit most other dishes. When it comes to combining rice balls and miso soup, which are common in Japanese food, I think it is the best match. Even if I eat only rice balls, I think it is a good point that I can adjust the taste by sprinkling a lot of salt. Finally, about the timing of eating rice balls. I feel it most delicious when I eat while studying at midnight. It’s because I’m hungry, but it’s also because I feel guilty. Please try eating salted rice balls during that time!

My Favorite Picture Book My favorite picture book is Kon to Aki. This story is a book about a girl named Aki and her stuffed fox named Kon who encounter various difficulties on their way to their grandmother’s house together. The author of this book is Akiko Hayashi. Like Aki, I had a stuffed animal when I was a child that I cherished as if it were my friend, and this book is one of my favorites because it reminds me of that time. Looking back on it now, it may seem impossible, but I had an experience as a child that I was able to talk with a stuffed animal in my mind. I like this story because this is a fascinating story about Kon, who called out to me that it is okay when I was worried. In this way, Kon was leading Aki at the beginning of the journey, but due to various difficulties, Kon gradually weakened, and Aki is drawn carrying Kon on her back as they headed home as an illustration. In contrast to Aki, the little girl who grows up, the relationship between Aki and Kon, who never grows up and gets older day by day is a story that is somewhat sad.

What are you thinking? I’m thinking about what to eat for lunch now because I’m very hungry. Even after eating lunch, I will probably think about what kind of sweets to eat next. So much, I’m thinking about food. the next thing I’m thinking a lot about is my part-time job. I’m always thinking about what time my part-time job is today and who I’m working with. Also, recently, I’ve been thinking more about exams. As for this, the more I think about them, the more impatient I get, so I don’t want to think about them too much. I don’t always think about my favorite idols, manga, music, etc., but I often think about it. It heals my heart when I think of them when something bad happens. Also, that’s not the case now, but music is often playing in the corner of my brain. In that case, it’s usually when I’m in a good mood. My brain is relatively full now. However, the exams are getting closer and closer, so impatience and frustration will occupy my brain more and more, and my brain will be more satisfied. Of course, there are some secret topics. They are secrets, so I can’t talk about them with others.

What rules my head What I think changes more or less depending on my mood and the situation at the time. I usually live my daily life thinking about what is written in the picture in that diagram. The items with the highest percentage of thoughts in the head are kendo, friends, family, and sleep. I am a member of a kendo club and I am trying to figure out what I need to be aware of in order to get better. I am particularly concerned about relationships with friends and family, because I try to treat them with care and appreciation. I usually feel sleepy because I don’t sleep well and want to stay in bed as long as possible if I can. The secret topic I think is classical music. I did not tell people around me that I like classical music because I thought that many young people would not be interested in classical music. In addition I have never learned to play the piano or play an instrument. I listen to classical piano now, and my favorite piece is Chopin’s Polonaise No 6, Heroic, in A-flat major, Op.53. Recently, I have started practicing the piano. So, I hope to be able to play it someday.

My favorite picture book is Merry Christmas Penelope. The story is about Christmas. Penelope prepares for the Christmas celebration from the day before Christmas. On the next day, all the relatives gathered, and Penelope had so much fun that causes trouble, but had a great time. The story was written by Anne Gutman. She was born in 1970 in Paris and joined Gallimard at the age of 21. She has been a designer for seven years. She met Georg during the Gallimard era. Through her intimate communication with Georg, she creates her Penelope story with her humorous sensibility and precise expressiveness.
After graduating from high school, he moved to Rome and started exhibiting paintings at galleries. He met Anne Gutman in Paris and got married. Together with Anne Gutman, he draws children’s daily lives from a concrete perspective with his outstanding expressiveness. He lives in Paris with Anne and her three children. The reason why I love this book is the trick is really fun. I had never read a book like this. I like the fact that when I open the present that Penelope received and transform it into a bee costume, I transform myself into Penelope. I am grateful to my parents for giving me this picture book.
The pictures were painted by Georg Hallensleben. He was born in Germany in 1958.

What are you thinking? What are you thinking about before class? How does it change in and after class? I analyzed the change in my brain. Please look at these pie chart. These represents the percentage of what I’m thinking about before, in and after class. It can be roughly divided into 5 types: study, meal, sleeping, part-time job and games. Before class, sleeping accounts for 40% of the total. I have trouble falling asleep and often cannot sleep well. I almost always get sleepy and the percentage accounts the greatest proportion. But it decreases due to tension in class. Instead, study accounts for 60% of the total in class. I hate repeating grades and want to get a good score in tests. So, I focus on my study. After class, I feel relieved the class is over and I don’t think about it. The percentage of meal and that of sleeping account for 35% of the total after class. I want to eat sweets as a reward for my hard work. There is always part-time job in my brain. I live alone and want to earn my own living expenses as much as possible. To analyze what you thinking about by yourself is interesting. To think about how it changes and why it is interesting too. Please try it for yourself.

My rice ball I often eat rice balls on a daily basis. As for how often I eat rice balls, I eat rice balls two to three times a week. I prefer triangular rice balls to round rice balls. Most of the rice balls I eat are not handmade, but most of them are bought at convenience stores. And my favorite rice ball ingredient is salmon. Seaweed also tastes good and delicious. The most delicious rice ball I have ever eaten is the handmade rice ball I ate during the soccer game. And when I asked my friend about his favorite rice ball, he said it was a handmade rice ball by his grandmother. The rice balls at the convenience store are delicious, but the handmade rice balls are also delicious. Handmade tastes different from the taste. Rice balls is an Interesting food that everyone eats and has various shapes and ingredients. And, when I think about rice balls again, I think that rice balls are easy to carry, easy to eat, and satisfying. What kind of rice balls do you like?

A book I liked when I was little This book is about the Dalmatian, Bongo, who is the dog of composer Roger, who lives in the flats of London. One day, Bongo, who was bored, is looking out the windown when he falls in love with a female dog called Padida and her owner, Anita. Bongo invites Roger for a walk and chases Padidas at first glance. As Bongo and Padidas run around them, Roger and Anita wind up on the lead and fall into the fountain. From this incident, they fall in love and get married. He has 15 puppies, but Anita’s acquaintance, the fur fetish Cruella, kidnaps them. After some hard work, the two parent dogs find their 15 captured puppies in a secluded villa with 84 other puppies.
With a total of 101 animals, they desperately escaped from the mansion. Please read what will happen after that. When I was little, the dogs drawn in the book was cute, so I picked it up and read it many times. What I like about the content is that Cruella’s subordinates are the type who use hard means, but it is interesting to see that they use various means such as hiding or intentionally getting dirty and changing the appearance. This work has also been made into a movie, and I think it is a work that is loved by many people. It is a work that teaches not only the cuteness of animals but also important things such as family love. After reading this book, you will feel relaxed and happy.

My favorite onigiri What kind of rice balls do you like? My favorite is natto. Natto is a food that you like and dislike, but the more you know about it, the more you like it. Natto sold at the supermarlet is a type with large beans and is very satisfying to eat. However, the natto contained in the natto maki is called “groat natto”, and the grains are a little smaller and the taste is different. You can enjoy different tastes of natto and natto maki than you normally eat. Also, the recommended points of rice balls is that you can easily eat them without using chopsticks. You can also enjoy different tastes by wrapping seaweed, and the food will be completely different depending on the ingredients inside. And the history of rice balls is even more interesting. The beginning is said to be in the Yayoi period, and it was very useful as an emergency food for soldiers even in the subsequent times. It is said that it became popular as a bento in the Edo period, and it became popular as a rice that can be easily eaten. As you can see, rice balls have many charms, so why don’t you come up with your own original rice balls?

About favorite onigiri There are various types of onigiri. There are a wide variety, from simple ones to those that have a bit added such as baked onigiri and flavoured onigiri. There are also many kinds of ingredients. They range from representative ones like tuna mayo to minor ones such as kimchi and sweet potatoes, the number of which cannot be counted. So, what kind of onigiri are popular? Let’s take a look at the rankings compiled for your favorite onigiri ingredients. In fifth place was boiled kelp, in fourth place was mentaiko, in third place was umeboshi, in second place was salmon, and in first place was tuna mayo. I understand that the second to fifth places are popular because they are all Japanese-style ingredients, but I was surprised that Tsunamayo was so popular that it became the first place. Finally, I would like to introduce my favorite onigiri. My favorite onigiri is the kelp and okaka onigiri from the neighborhood supermarket (named Konomiya). Nori with a good taste covers the whole onigiri, and the compatibility with rice is outstanding. In addition, there are plenty of ingredients. I buy these once a week at the end of my workday. I am very happy when I am eating these. If you have a chance, please try it!

Favorite Picture Book My favorite picture book is Kuma no Gakko. This is the story of twelve bears which live in dormitory on the mountain. One of the twelve is a girl, and her name is Jackie. She is the youngest of them. She likes to play a prank, but she has a kindness like a mother. This book’s picture was drawn by Nami Adachi. She is from Tachimi city in Gifu. Her works is drawing picture book, designing stuffed animal and clothes of stuffed animal. The elementary school that she attended is decorated with her art. There are twelve painted bears in the library and yard. In addition, the mother and child health handbook of Tachimi city is designed with Jackie. This book’s sentence was written by Hiroyuki Aihara. He is a picture book writer. In the wake of his daughter being born, he started writing the story. Kuma no Gakko is based on the nursery school that his daughter attended. He thought that children were very cute like teddy bears when he took his daughter to and from nursery. I like this book because I often read it when I was a child. Also, the pictures of bears are very cute. I could know bear’s school life. My favorite part is when Jackie comforted her crying old brother bear. When I read this part, I thought that Jackie is nice. I like her very much still now. Ishii, Honoka

My favorite picture book My favorite picture book is Guri-to-Gura. This picture book has many series. The main characters of this picture book are Guri and Gura, two wild mice. One day, they went out to the forest with a big basket and found a corns, chestnuts, and big eggs there. They decided to use it to make castella. They managed to bake the castella, though they had a hard time. And when they were singing a funny song while waiting for it to be baked, the animals of the forest gathered... The author of this picture book is Eriko Nakagawa. She has published numerous other books and has won numerous awards. She is also known
for writing the song Sanpo in the movie My Neighbor Totoro. Guri-to-Gura has been translated into 10 languages to date. In the way, this is book is loved by many people all over the world. Especially popular with young people. Most Japanese would have read it once when they were little. My favorite scene is when Guri and Gura worked hard to bake the castella. Their body size is much smaller than a frying pan and they are so cute. And the where the animals gathered and everyone was eating castella, it was also very relaxing. When I read this book again after a long time, I found out why so many people want to read it. It is a picture book that even adults can enjoy and heal, so I definitely want everyone to read.

Rice balls Rice balls is originally a dish with ingredients wraped in cooked rice. However, recently, The ingredients come on the triangular white rice. Rice balls are said to have been eaten since the Yayoi period. Japan’s oldest rice ball was discovered at the Chanobatake Ruins in the late Yayoi period. It is said that rice was introduced to Japan in the middle of the Jomon period. I eat rice balls once every 3 days. I always buy them at a convenience store. They are also sold at Japanese restaurant menus and convenience stores and supermarkets. My favorite type is tuna mayonnaise and grilled salmon and so on. The devil’s rice ball sold at Lawson is a hot topic. It has a mix of tenkasu and tentsuyu with rice cooked in white soup.
Wrapping rice with seaweed has two major advantages: the high nutritional value of the seaweed itself and the fact that rice grains are separate. There are various theories about the regional characteristics of the shape of rice balls. Regardless of the area, the shape may change depending on the scene such as an event or a vacation. In the Hokkaido region, there are butter-grilled rice balls that use cod roe as an ingredient, stir-fried in butter, and have added soy sauce. Butter is a local dairy product, and cod roe is also a local product. In the Kinki region such as Osaka, it is correct to use seasoned seaweed to wrap rice. Regardless of whether it is right or wrong, seasoned seaweed rice balls seem to be more popular than in other areas of Japan.

Kon and Aki My favorite picture book is “Kon to Aki.” The main characters in this story are Aki, Kon, and Aki’s grandmother. Kon is a stuffed fox boy that Aki’s grandmother made for her. Aki is a five-year-old girl. Aki’s grandmother lives in Tottori. This is Kon and Aki’s adventure story. Kon came from Aki’s grandmother’s house to Aki’s house when Aki was a baby. Kon and Aki always play and Aki is growing up gradually, but Kon is getting old and his arm comes apart at the seams, so they go to Aki’s grandmother’s house to fix his arm. This story is written by Akiko Hayashi. She is a picture book writer, and she wrote both the pictures and the story of this picture book. I like picture books she wrote such as Magic Paints and Miki’s first Errand. The reason why I like this story is that even though he is a stuffed animal, he is written as though he is alive. I haven’t seen such story much. My favorite part in this story is that Kon’s tail is caught in the door of the train. Kon says, “Daijobu, Daijobu.” In this scene, Kon is so pretty. And Kon says that “the lunch boxes are still warm,” even with his tail caught. I was so impressed with his kindness when I read this part.

One day guri and gura went to the depths of forest to search for ingredients. They picked up an acorn and a chestnut in a big basket and discovered an unexpected thing when gathering. Surprisingly, a big egg fell into the middle of their path. They decided whether they should have a fried egg, an omelet, or make castella. They put all the ingredients in a bowl with butter and wheat flour. They whisked them with milk, flour, sugar and then guri and gura, poured the contents into a frypan. They baked it to make castella. I like this book because I like the appearance of the pancake and the animals of the forest and it is a peaceful place. The reason that chose this book is because I read it with my grandmother before bed, and and I read it by oneself even in the daytime. It’s a memory from my childhood. I don’t have it in my house anymore, but is one of my first memories as a child.

My Brain Maker on English Day Before going to class, it’s hard for me to get up in the morning. I want to skip the class. But if I do it, I may not be able to advance. So I must go to English class. And if I skip the class, Mr. Duncan might get mad. What will l do after the class is over? First I will eat good meals. After the class is over, I have a sense of accomplishment. First, I will eat a good meal. Then I want to go shopping for clothes. I want to be cool and stylish. Like Masaki Suda, for example. Masaki Suda’s hair looks cool. I’m tempted to change my hair. But I must study when I get home. I hate it so much. After arriving at home. I finally got home. The distance between the university and my house is very far. Anyway, I’m going to have lunch. I’m getting sleepy so I think I’ll go to bed. But I must study. I don’t know whether to sleep or study. All right, I’ll go to bed. After sleeping. I’ve slept too long! I have to go to work now.

My best onigiri Onigiri is one of the proudest Japanese foods. I think onigiri is a perfect food. That is because anyone can make it easily and eat it with one hand. Also, onigiri has a lot of kind ingredients. You can choose your filling depending on how you feel that day when you make onigiri yourself. Onigiri has various shapes, for example triangle, ball, circle and barrel. Triangle is the most classic type. I like onigiri. I eat onigiri twice a week in morning or lunch. I recommend the triangle onigiri which is rolled nori. I usually make onigiri at home, but sometimes buy it at the convenience store. Onigiri is so delicious, however too expensive for me. For the reason I make onigiri at home. I like salmon onigiri the best. Salty salmon is the best combination with rice. At the convenience store, there are many kinds of onigiri. For instance, omelet rice, fried rice and mixed rice. Such onigiri will be satisfyingi when you eat it, so it will eventually return to the taste of standard onigiri. Also, salmon onigiri is easy to make at home. I usually eat salmon onigiri when I make onigiri at home.

My favorite picture book My favorite picture book is The Cat That Lived a Million Times. This picture book’s hero is a cat. He was reborn a million times. A king had him once. A sailor had him once. A circus had him once. He lived millions of lives. Owners loved him and was sad when he died. However, he never loved his owners. He was reborn a stray cat and loved a white cat who didn’t look at him. he knew what love was. So, he didn’t want to be reborn again when she died. Yoko Sato wrote The Cat That Lived a Million Times. She wrote a lot of picture books and won awards. She passed away ten years ago, but books which she wrote are loved people of all generations. My favorite part is when he came to know real love and chose not to be reborn. I read this part and felt sad. But he had a lot of experience, he loved her and changed his mind. Love is excellent. However, I feel empty and sad inside when he dosen’t come back for more. By all means, please do try and read this book for yourself too because I think each person feels differently about this picture book.

My favorite picture book My favorite picture book is I Will Never NOT EVER Eat a Tomato. The story of this book is about Charlie who is the left person in the picture and his younger sister who is the right person in the picture, Lola. Sometimes, his parents told him to feed her. But it was very difficult because she had a lot of likes and dislikes. One day he came up with a good idea. It was that he made her eat her dislikes by changing the name of the food that she do not like. The idea worked out very well. And finally, she comes to eat a tomato she dislikes the most by changing its name by herself. Why I choose this book for my favorite book is that it’s still very funny anytime I read it, and, if I have a child with a lot of likes and dislikes I would very much like to read it with them. My favorite part of this book is that Lola comes to eat a tomato. This is because it was impressive for me she started eating what she didn’t like the most.

Favorite picture book 100kaidatenoie 100kaidatenoie was written by Toshio Iwai. Toshio Iwai was born in Aichi in 1962. He is a media artist. He has written a lot of books. For example, Chika100kaidatenoie, Umino100kaidatenoie, Sorano100kaidatenoie and Iwaisanchinoribettokun. Various creatures live on every 10th floor. The main character, Tochi proceed toward the 100th floor. Many creatures appear in this story and Tochi goed upstairs while talking with creatures. There are frogs, squirrels, snakes, spiders, and so on. Tochi jumped rope with snakes and he drank acorn juice with a squirrel and he ate a honey cake with a bee and he ate a ice cream with a snail, etc. A spider prince was waiting on the 100th floor. Tochi and spider prince looked into the telescope and saw stars from the 100th floor. Tochi thought that stars seen from 100th floor were very beautiful. I think that the pictures of each creature are so cute and friendly. Especially, my favorite characters are the snakes, the bat and the snails. The pictures are very cute and this book will be fun to read on. I think it is a very good picture book because you can read it while tracing the stairs with your finger.

The Wizard of Oz My favorite picture book is The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I will introduce the outline of this story. One day, the main character Dorothy was flown from Kansas to the eastern country. To return to Kansas, Dorothy headed to Oz with the Scarecrow, the Tin woodcutter, and the Lion, who had wishes. She was commanded by Oz, and Dorothy and his colleagues joined forces to defeat the terrifying Witch of the West, but Oz turned out not to be a wizard. Finally, the Witch of the South appeared, she said, even without the Wizard of Oz, she had already fulfilled the wishes of the scarecrows. Dorothy was able to return to Kansas. My favorite scene is when Dorothy’s house flies away, and lands on the witch. And I thought it was fairy tale wonderful that the Witch of the North came and put on her silver shoes to fulfill her wishes. Next, I would like to introduce the author. The author is L. Frank Baum. He is a children’s writer and fantasy writer in the United States. He can also see the notations such as Baum and Balm. He has written more than 60 fairy tales and children’s literature and is particularly famous as the author of the “The Wizard of Oz” series.

Two Different Modes of My Brain I guess my brain is a little bit weird to you. My brain has two modes: Positive mode, and Negative mode. Each mode, my brain is full of various things. First, in Positive mode. The biggest part of my brain is Friends. I love to do something helpful for someone. Everyone makes me love myself, and my heart wealthy. My biggest hobby is tennis. I belong to the tennis club of my university and usually think about what I want to do in next practicing. And I often think about the other hobbies, especially music. I used to play the piano for about 5 years, so I’m very interested in music. Listening to English music is also good for studying English. Every time it’s joy to think about what I love to do. There are three parts that I always think about: Staying Alive, my Future, and Things Around Me. “Everything is gonna be fine if you’re alive.” is my motto. So it’s very important for me to stay alive
and healthy. These three occupies the same parts of Negative mode of my brain. Then, how about Negative mode? Things I have to do occupy most parts of my brain, Studying, Part-Time job, Family or Housework. When so many things I have to do comes in short time, sometimes I want to run away from everything, go out from this cruel world. But Staying Alive is the most important thing for me. Staying alive with loving and being loved is our destiny. Then my friends help me a lot. So I’m living for my friends, family, but for me. The title of this Zine is “Two Different Modes of My Brain”, but these two modes are connected. My mom always tells me not to think too much. But this is me. This is what I want to be like. I’m sure it’s one of the toughest moments in my life. I’m afraid of my future so much. Making this Zine organized my thought clearly, so It was a great opportunity for me to face my future and not to run away. I hope some day I will read this zine again, and look back on this moment.

What kind of Onigiri do you like? There are many kinds of Onigiri fillings. I like katsuobushi, especially moist ones. Moist katsuobushi spreads its flavor in your mouth. I like its sweet flavor very much. I also like Noritama onigiri that my mother makes for me because I feel my mother’s love for me when I eat it. I usually eat these two kinds of Onigiri’s fillings, but there are many other kinds of Onigiri’s fillings, such as umeboshi, grilled salmon, sea kelp, flaked tuna mixed with mayo, cod roe, leaf mustard and no fillings. These preferences are very different from person to person. Next, I’m going to talk about Onigiri’s shapes. There are several kinds of Onigiri shapes, such as triangle, barrel and sphere. I like the small barrelshaped onigiri that my mother makes for me because it’s one bite size and easy to eat. However, my mother’s Onigiri is mixed with fillings, and I like triangular Onigiri when the fillings are gathered in the middle. There are also several kinds of the texture of seaweed. Onigiri’s seaweed at convenience store is often crispy, and that at home is often moist. I like crispy seaweed because it goes well with the texture of rice and fillings. Many of my friends also like crispy seaweed.

My brain maker I always think about my free time after class. My after-school brain is divided into six parts: music, part-time, sleep, play, study, and friends. My hobbies are playing games and listening to music. During class, I usually want to go home and play video games. Therefore, “play” occupies the largest part of the six in my brain. Next, “music” occupies a large part of the brain. I love the unit Fantastic Youth and listen to their songs on the train and bus on the way to and from college. When I get tired due to the practical training, their songs make me relax. The third largest is “sleep”. I like to sleep and often take a nap. Sleeping is the most comfortable when you are tired. The fourth largest is the “my part time job”. I’m currently working part-time with the goal of buying a gaming PC that costs 250,000 yen. I promised with my friends to play on a gaming PC. The fifth big thing is “friends”. I don’t have many friends, so I don’t think I have much time to think about them. When my friends are absent from university, I’m afraid if they’re OK. The last is “study”. I need to study to keep up with university classes. Even while I’m playing or thinking about video games, there’s a smaller part of my brain that I most study My brain is made up of these six.

Inside my brain The human brain is very complicated and we can think about various things, so people’s thoughts have individuality. Are you interested about what I’m thinking? Let’s look inside my brain. Most of my brain is desire to sleep. This sentence tells you what kind of person I am. My personality is like a sloth. Sloths sleep 20 hours in a day. I want to sleep for that much time, if I can. Sleeping is the only time that I can forget everything. I don’t have to think about works, classes, and other annoying things while I sleep. The next highest percentage of my brain is food. I like eating. Eating delicious foods makes me happy. Japan is full of delicious foods, so various foods overflow in my head. There is a saying that you can’t fight on an empty stomach. As the words says, when I am hungry, I think about only food and I’ll do my best for eating. There are many other things that in my head. For example tennis, watching anime and so on. If I explain it, it will be a long sentence. How about inside my brain? There was more bias in the content than you expected. The inside of the brain varies from person to person, so it’s very interesting inside the brain of others. How is it inside your brain?

Let’s make a magazine about rice ball fillings I eat rice balls about once a week now. When I went to junior high and high school, I ate them every weekday. Now, I would rather buy them from a convenience store than make them myself. Especially 7-Eleven’s rice balls have very dry seaweed, so you can taste the flavor of the seaweed. My favorite rice ball I have ever eaten is the one with cheese and yukari. When I was a high school student, my mother would sometimes make the rice ball and put it in my lunch box. I sometimes miss those rice balls. But now I live alone, away from my mother, so I make it myself. My rice balls are delicious enough when cold, but when freshly made, the cheese is slightly melted and tastes even better. Yukari and cheese are a great combination. Rice balls with Yukari and cheese are not sold in stores. But the materials to make them can be easily bought at the store. So, I encourage everyone to try making it yourselves.

Iruno Inaino This book’s keyword is being. Main character is the boy who visits his grandma’s house. It has an opentimbered roof. A certain day, the boy perceived that someone lives the ceiling. So, he told grandma about the unidentified man on the ceiling. When grandma listens his thoughts, grandma made no attempt to explain. But he wanted to have something to believe anyway and explained it with concrete descriptions. I said that the man who came across as angry was looking me. Grandma received his story and she said “If you think they are not there, they are not there.” Author: Katsuhiko Kyougoku Illustrator: Naoko Machida This book is very fascinating. There are two points working backstage. First, the pictures, which are the nucleus for this illustrated book. Artwork which fuel someone’s fear has reality. And another thing, how to arrange backgrounds is amazing. Secondly, the story and texts which make us worry. There is creepiness which can hardly be expected for a book for children. For many reasons, I think that adult person is enjoyable too. You are strongly urged to read. What’s your favorite part? My favorite part is the last page, because the illustration is very scary.

What do you put in onigiri? Making onigiri is hard. So, I eat it from the convenience stores. My favorite onigiri of convenience stores is ebimayo. They are shrimp and mayonnaise. This collaboration is very good. And onigiri of convenience stores is rolled by ajinori. It is crispy and yummy. But I like handmade onigiri better than onigiri of convenience stores. Onigiri is different with every person who makes it. No matter who makes it, everything is tasty. My mother makes onigirazu for me. Onigirazu is onigiri not to grasp. Only fold. And she puts tamagoyaki in it. Tamagoyaki is rolled omelet. It is traditional Japanese food. Her tamagoyaki is very delicious. Sometimes, I eat my grand mother’s onigiri. I can eat onigiri that I don’t select usually. She put salted kelp or salted plum. There are delicious too. Onigiri’s good point is that we take it anywhere easily, because it is covered with plastic wrap. And it doesn’t need chopsticks. So, we can eat it outside. In addition, it can arrange by changing it’s inside. We can put in our favorite food. So, onigiri makes us possible to enjoy a lot of variations. And onigiri is more filling than bread. If we are full, we become happy.

My favorite rice ball fillings My name is Ayane Shimomura. I’m going to talk about my favorite rice ball fillings. Before I go further, I would like to talk about my rice ball situation. There are two types of rice ball I eat: those I often eat and those I eat on special occasions. The former is convenience stores’ rice balls. The latter is rice balls which I make myself and the rice ball which I buy at Ziraiya which is the rice ball specialty store. First, I would like to describe my favorite rice ball fillings that I buy at convenience stores. It is salmon or salt. If I buy one rice ball there, I buy a salmon rice ball. Salt-flavored rice balls are delicious, but sometimes the amount of salt is uneven, which is disappointing. Second, I would like to describe my favorite rice ball fillings of rice balls I make myself. When I make them, I’m determined to use mixed rice. I often use salmon flakes, perilla seaweed, salt or cod roe. The best is still the salmon rice ball. I have always
loved salmon, so I always make salmon flakes at home. When I make rice balls myself, I don’t put seaweed on them. I like seaweed, but this is my usual pattern. Third, I would like to describe the rice ball of Ziraiya. The type of the sold rice ball is Tenmusu. A lot of people may think the rice ball with shrimp tempura filling, but this shop’s rice ball filling looks like deep-fried chicken and small shrimps are inside. It is very delicious. We can buy it at Hankyu Umeda Store. I often buy it when I want to buy lunch in Umeda. There are my favorite rice ball fillings. Please try it.

Memory of rice ball Rice ball is one of the popular foods in Japan. It is a lot of fantastic points. First, my favorite rice ball is tuna mayo. It looks like sober, but it is very delicious. It is made from tuna. This is very juicy, so it goes well with rice. Second, It will be memories. I have a lot of rice ball’s memories. One of them I can never forget; it is my mother’s rice ball. My mother used to make me rice balls when I was a child. It makes me happy because my mother cooks very well and she is good at making rice balls. I often made rice balls with my mother. Recently, convenience stores sell various types of rice balls. There are various flavors such as curry. The ingredients of rice ball have infinite possibilities. It would be interesting to create it that suit you.

My Favorite Onigiri Which do you like rice or bread? In my opinion, I choose rice, especially, Sushi and Onigiri. In my family, we mostly eat rice in all dishes: bread appears about 10 times per year. So, I love rice. I often eat Onigiri in lunch because it’s I’m too lazy to make lunch. My favorite taste of Onigiri is Karashi Mentaiko. Karashi Mentaiko is the kimchi of eggs of Alaska pollock. If these eggs aren’t used, it’s not Mentaiko. The best Onigiri I had is the one in Karashi Mentaiko in Hakata. We have been to Kyusyu in school trip. The Onigiri was sold in Mentaiko shop (sorry, I forgot the name of this shop). It’s not big but, the taste is everything. I ate the Onigiri once, however, it’s the best one in my life. Last, I recommend in Onigiri what is sold in LAWSON. It’s called salmon roe pickled in soy sauce. Maybe you’re thinking, “Salmon roe? Why not Mentaiko?”. That is because ordinary; Mentaiko is not very delicious. Therefore, I recommend the salmon roe Onigiri. By the way, salmon roe is my favorite too. If you don’t mind, check it , please.

Introducing Karasu no Panya-san My favorite picture book is Karasu no Panya-san. It’s a picture book by Kako Satoshi. It was published in 1973. In a bakery in the town of crows in the forest, four babies of different colors were born. The crow couple makes a lot of unique shaped bread with reference to the children’s opinions, and the bakery prospers greatly. Each one of the hordes of crows living in the forest is depicted expressively, and the page where a large number of breads depicting various things such as vegetables, fruits, vehicles, animals, toys, etc. made by the crow family in cooperation are arranged in large numbers on a doublepage spread is quite popular
with children. There are also books that record how the bread that appears in the work is actually cooked. As of 2018, it has recorded a cumulative circulation of 2.4 million copies and is counted as one of Kakosatoshi’s representative works. There are two reasons why I like Karasu no Panya-san. The first is a four-winged child crow. They are very cute crows with colors that are not seen at all in the real world, such as brown, red, yellow and white. The second is a page with a large number of bread spreads. On a page with a lot of bread, “Wow!! That looks delicious!!” And the eyes sparkle. There are many loaves of bread with various objects, and they catch the eye.

The Giving Chair One day, a rabbit made a chair. The chair was called “The Giving Chair”. The rabbit put this chair near the big tree. And she put a board, too. The message of board was “Please feel free to use it”. Another day, a donkey was collecting some acorns. He carried a basket which be full of acorns. Then he found the chair. He put the basket on the chair and slept next to the chair. Next, a bear came to the chair. He saw the basket full of acorns and the board. So, the bear ate it all… This is the story of the kindly chair that connects animals. I think this story’s best scene is the last scene. The donkey woke up and saw the basket. There is something different from acorns in the basket. So, he was surprised and said a word when he saw that. I like his word because it was generous and sweet. My recommended point is kindhearted animals. We can meet various animals. Rabbit, bear, donkey, and so on. They have gentle heart. And they are all foodies too. They can think not only myself but also everyone else. We can study the importance of consideration from this story.

I want to put Umeboshi in all onigiri!! I like Ume onigiri among onigiri the best. Do you know umeboshi? It’s salted plum in English. Umeboshi has good points for your health. Ume onigiri means umeboshi put in onigiri. Umeboshi is so salty and sour. But the taste fits rice very much. My favorite kind of Umeboshi is made by my grandmother. My grandmother makes it every year. The Umeboshi is much sourer than any umeboshi I have eaten. But the taste becomes addictive. Now Ume onigiri sells the most at the convenience stores. I like Ume onigiri in Seven Eleven the best in all convenience stores. Seven Eleven’s onigiri is good proportion in rice and umeboshi. And the convenience store is delicious for crispy seaweed. It wasn’t crispy when I always make onigiri that is covered with seaweed. And the seaweed is flavored at Western Japan. In East Japan the seaweed isn’t flavored at the same convenience stores. I’m happy to live in West Japan. I sometimes buy it. I get a craving to eat this occasionally. The onigiri is charming for me. Did you notice the charms of the onigiri? If you don’t like umeboshi, you’ll think that you were deceived and try it once. The world will look different. So let’s do Seven Eleven and buy a Ume onigiri.

What do you put in rice balls? Japan has a lot of delicious side dishes, so all onigiri is delicious, but my favorite onigiri is salmon with crispy seasoned seaweed. I like it sold at convenience stores. Shops does not matter. I eat one almost every day when I go to school. In the case of onigiri made by myself, I like salmon and mayonnaise. If this is the case, I don’t need seaweed because I can’t make my own onigiri with crispy seaweed. I like crispy seasoned seaweed that much. The best onigiri I ever had is okaka onigiri. Okaka means dried bonito. I ate it when I was a junior high school student. I was hospitalized and fasted for 1 week at that time. The taste of the food I ate for the first time in a week was very delicious and I was so impressed. I will never forget that taste. The onigiri I would like to recommend to you is Japanese style tuna onigiri. Because I also like tuna and grilled onigiri. Japanese style tuna onigiri is not grilled onigiri, but the taste is similar. So Japanese style tuna onigiri is collaboration of my favorite foods. This is sold at Daily Yamazaki. I hope you try it.

The Wonderful Onigiri What ingredients do you like about onigiri? I like to eat onigiri with tuna mayo. According to one survey, tuna mayo, shake, and umeboshi ranked high. Salmon seems to be the most popular ingredient. When I go out, I eat onigiri several times a month. Onigiri sold in convenience stores can be eaten quickly and are very suitable for lunch or when you are hungry. In fact, just under 70% of respondents buy onigiri for lunch. I also always buy onigiri for lunch. Onigiri sold in convenience stores are easier to eat than lunch boxes and generate less waste. The best onigiri I have ever eaten at a convenience store was a 7-Eleven. I was impressed by the taste of seaweed and the ingredients. Onigiri can also be enjoyed as character bento boxes by using seaweed in creative ways. By devising the seaweed as well as the ingredients, onigiri can be enjoyed not only for eating but also for the pleasure of making onigiri. You can also express your individuality with onigiri. Character bento boxes are also appreciated by children. Onigiri can be easily made at home, so when you do not have time to make a lunch box, onigiri is very easy to make because you just put the ingredients on rice and wrap it in a wrap. If you do not have any ingredients, you can also simply sprinkle salt on the rice. Fujiyama, Yuki

It Might be an Apple (Ringo Kamoshirenai) I absolutely love Yoshitake Shinsuke. His picture books are so good; they’re weird, entertaining, and there is something in there for everyone. Including adults and children alike. This is probably his most famous book; “It Might be an Apple.” In the book, a young boy notices an apple on the table in the kitchen. But, he pauses for a second... is it really an apple? And then the adventure begins, of what the apple COULD Be. Maybe it’s an ALIEN? Maybe it’s a machine, or a house. Maybe it has other forms. One of my favourite pages is the different other types of apple there could be. Apple in Japanese is ‘ringo’; there is a whole double page dedicated to illustrations of ‘rango’, ‘ringo’, ‘rungo’, ‘rengo’, and ‘rongo’, and all the other kana, like ‘tango’, ‘sango’, ‘nango’, ‘kango’, etc. And everyone has a unique and interesting shape. I want to print a poster and hang it on my wall. I teach design, and this book is the ultimate explanation of what creativity is. Children have and understand creativity in it’s purest form. As adults, we often forget; this book offers us a hint as to how we can get it back.
