Ullr: so heißt der nordische Gott des Skifahrens.
Designhotel für Götter Wenn Ullr ein Mensch wäre – wo würde er leben wollen? Was würde ihm gefallen? Was brauchte er, um glücklich zu sein und sich wohl zu fühlen? Fragen wie diese haben sich wohl auch Franziska Alber und Michael Gfall gestellt, als sie angefangen haben, das Haus in St. Anton am Arlberg zu planen, das nun den Namen des Gottes trägt: Ullrhaus. Ort: Die „Wiege des alpinen Skilaufs“. Mit dem Standort wäre Ullr sicherlich mehr als zufrieden: Das Hotel befindet sich mitten in St. Anton, wo der moderne Skisport seinen Anfang nahm. Zwischen zwei Bergbahnen, die zum größten Skigebiet Österreichs führen, und nur wenige Schritte von der Fußgängerzone entfernt ist das neu eröffnete Haus gelegen. Interieur: Nordisch-alpin. Wer das Hotel betritt, wird sich vielleicht wundern – ein klassisches Alpinhotel ist es keineswegs. Eher eines für Sportliche, denen es nicht egal ist, aus welchem Material die Möbel sind und welche Farben dominieren. Das Innenleben wurde von der Münchner Innenarchitektin Stephanie Thatenhorst – 2019 mit dem German Design Award ausgezeichnet – gestaltet. Es ist inspiriert von der Natur der Umgebung: Helle Salbeitöne, Waldgrün, Kalkgrau in der Farbe, reduziert auf das Wesentliche in der Form und wohlig-warm und gemütlich im Material. Ein Spa-Bereich mit Indoor-Pool, Sauna, Dampfbad und Ruheraum gibt es ebenso. Auch die Küche, welche Chef Michael selber leitet, bietet ein à la Carte Restaurant und eine Melange aus nordisch und alpin. Ullr würde es mögen. − M M

Ullr is the name given to the Nordic God of Skiing. If Ullr were a human being – where would he want to live? What would he find aesthetically pleasing? What would he need to be happy and to feel good? These are some of the questions that Franziska Alber and Michael Gfall may also have asked themselves when they started planning Ullrhaus, their hotel that carries the name of this god. Located in St. Anton am Arlberg, an Austrian village in the Tyrolean Alps, Ullr would no doubt be pleased with the location – the cradle of skiing as the sport we know it as today! Situated between two slopes that lead to Austria’s largest ski area, it is not your traditional alpine hotel. It comes across more as something that would appeal to the sporty who attach great importance to what material the furnishings are made from and what the dominant colours are. The Nordic Alpine inside is the work of Munich interior designer Stephanie Thatenhorst, who walked away with the German Design Award in 2019. Here sage tones, forest greens and lime greys make up the colour repertoire reduced to basics in the shapes that have taken them on, whilst at the same time exuding the warmth and cosiness of the materials. There is also a spa area with indoor pool, sauna, steam bath and relaxation room. The à la Carte Restaurant run by Chef de cuisine Michael himself has on offer a melange of Nordic and alpine cuisine. No doubt Ullr would love it!
