Ready to dive into secondary teaching and pass on your specialist knowledge? Take this salaried, postgraduate work-based route into the sector and benefit from paid employment status, along with 80% on-the-job training and 20% off-the-job training. You will be employed by a school within the Luminate Partnership for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) for 15 months, working as an unqualified teacher for four days per week. You will then spend one day a week developing the professional expertise and core knowledge expected of school teachers in your chosen age range. To ensure compliance with the Department for Education’s statutory ITT criteria, you will gain experience in different school settings and one of our placements will be in an alternative environment, such as a special school. You will benefit from links within the Luminate Education Group, as well as our external primary and secondary partnership schools. You will spend a minimum of 120 days in these settings, in addition to the expertise of the academics within our Teacher Development Centre. You will also gain support from school mentors, class teachers and tutors, helping you carve out a successful role in education.
