nosotres Não por acaso, a bailarina e coreógrafa chilena Javiera Peón-Veiga decide formar um trio de bailarinos para interrogar conceitos de gênero e sexo. O resultado é n o s o t r e s, trabalho colaborativo cuja proposta é desarticular oposições binárias, como masculino e feminino, ativo e passivo, heterossexual e homossexual, entendidas como construções socioculturais, pondo ênfase no papel do “e”, do que está entre as categorias, do que foge às dicotomias. Através do movimento da pelve e de suas repercussões no corpo, os dançarinos trabalham noções como repetição, transformação, identidade sexual e gênero unívoco. Futurista e andrógino, o figurino ajuda a neutralizar as diferenças entre os gêneros, mas não apaga as diferenças entre os corpos dos bailarinos em cena. A intenção do grupo é celebrar o corpo como potencialidade, em permanente reinvenção. Por outro lado, o palco também pode ser visto como um corpo cênico. Formada pela London Contemporary Dance School, no Reino Unido, Javiera Peón-Veiga estudou coreografia no Centro Nacional de Dança Contemporânea de Angers, na França, e fez uma residência na Cité Internationale des Arts, em Paris. Criação de 2012, n o s o t r e s tem o financiamento do Fondart, conselho chileno para a cultura e as artes, e já foi apresentado em festivais em Valparaíso, Santiago, Montevidéu e Berlim.

Not coincidentally, the Chilean dancer and choreographer, Javiera Peón-Veiga, decided to form a dance trio to explore concepts of gender and sex. The result is n o s o t r e s, a collaborative work which aims to disrupt binary opositions, such as male and female, top and bottom, heterosexual and homosexual, understood as being socio-cultural constructions, placing emphasis on the role of the “and”, what falls between categories, and what departs from dichotomies. Through pelvic movements and their repercussions throughout the body, the dancers work through the ideas of repetition, transformation, and sexual and gender identity. Futuristic and androgynous, the costumes help to neutralize differences between genders; however they do not erase differences between the dancers’ bodies onstage. The group’s intention is to celebrate the body as a possibility for permanent reinvention. On the other hand, the stage as well can be seen as a scenic body. Trained at the London Contemporary Dance School, in the United Kingdom, Javiera Peón-Veiga studied choreography at the Angers National Center for Contemporary Dance in France, and was artist in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts, in Paris. Created in 2012, n o s o t r e s is supported financially by Fondart, a Chilean council for culture and arts, and was performed in festivals in Valparaiso, Santiago, Montevideo and Berlin.
