Blacksmithing & Metalworking Level 2 This course is run by the longest established blacksmithing training college in the country, with staff dedicated to providing training for those who wish to work in the various areas of forged iron, ranging from traditional to contemporary design work. This course seeks to lay the foundation for a successful career in forged metalwork and comprehensively teaches the technical skills that are essential to becoming a competent blacksmith. You will benefit from being taught on site by some of the most internationally recognised professional blacksmiths in the industry, this will be supported by gaining work experience with a blacksmith as part of your study programme. There is also the opportunity to enter into competitions, one of these being at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern. High-achieving blacksmiths trained at the College are very well regarded by employers and many subsequently trade in their own right. This subject is an excellent choice for a self-motivated and hard-working person who will be expected to have good hand/ eye coordination and artistic ability in this exciting and growing industry. Most students completing this course continue to the level 3 to further develop their skills. Qualification Level 2 Diploma in Blacksmithing & Metalworking
Course Content The course is mainly delivered in the workshop, with related knowledge sessions. Entry Requirements • Four GCSEs at grade 3 (grade D) or above (to include maths and English) or successful completion of a suitable and relevant Level 1 Blacksmithing qualification • Successful interview and initial assessment in literacy and numeracy • Applicants will be expected to demonstrate knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment to the chosen subject area
