Access to Higher Education Level 3 This is a life-changing and academic preparatory course for progression to university-level study.
This course offers an alternative route to A Levels and BTEC Level 3 courses and has successfully launched many students into a variety of courses and careers. Students on this course achieve consistently high grades year-on-year. There is an emphasis on building your confidence and the course design takes into consideration the possibility that many students may not have been in full-time education for some time. You will find that you gain a high level of support from both the teaching team and from other members of the group. This course will open doors to university-level qualifications and will prepare you for studying at this level. Teaching hours are designed to be family friendly. Assessments take a variety of forms, including essays, projects, oral presentations and open and closed book examinations. The course is credit based; you must achieve 60 Level 3 credits to pass the course, 45 of which will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. Universities make offers based on grade achievement. Entry Requirements • Grade 4 (grade C) or higher in GCSE English language and GCSE maths (some universities will accept functional skills level 2 please discuss at interview) • Experience of life outside full-time education • The motivation and determination to succeed on an intensive programme Progression If you complete the Health Professionals Diploma you may apply for degree courses leading to careers in the health professions, including nursing, midwifery, paramedic science and occupational therapy. If you complete the Social Sciences and Humanities Diploma you may apply for initial teacher training courses and other degrees in education, humanities and social sciences.

Aged 16-18 years There are no tuition or examination fees | Materials Fee £300 (per year) Aged 19 or over (at the start of the course) Different fees apply depending on your individual circumstances and prior qualifications. Almost all our learners apply for a Learner Loan and this is written off when they gain a place at university. If you don’t take a place at university, learner loans don’t have to be repaid until you are earning at least £21,000 a year (correct at time of printing).
