Business Level 2 A practical focus on current business and retail practices, including finance, administration and Young Enterprise.
If you are confident, enthusiastic and like meeting new people, this could be the right course for you. In a very supportive environment you will develop excellent interpersonal skills and a good grounding in many of the important business skills at an intermediate level. This includes customer care, marketing, finance and employees’ rights, as well as how to manage your own time and organise your own work. You will be involved in local trips and start to develop small business ideas. The practical focus on how businesses work is underpinned by pathways in both finance and administration, preparing students for further progression in this area. Qualification Level 2 Extended Certificate in Business Duration One year Course Content You will cover a diverse range of topics throughout your course. A selection of unit titles is shown below. • Working in Business Teams • Marketing • Business Retailing • Financial Planning • Enterprise & Business Start-up • Recruitment, Selection & Employment The emphasis is on ‘learning by doing’, which involves assessment by projects, case studies and assignments. Some examinations are included as well as local visits and work experience. All full-time students are required to study maths and English at the appropriate level. We also offer the following apprenticeships as an alternative to full-time study: • Level 2 Assistant Accountant, Level 3 Advanced Accounting or Level 4 Professional Accounting • Business Administration, Levels 2 & 3 • Customer Service Practitioner, Level 2 and Customer Service Specialist, Level 3 • Team Leader/Supervisor, Level 3 • Operations/Departmental Manager, Level 5 Course Content As an employed apprentice you will gain practical skills along with knowledge and understanding relevant to your chosen course. The apprenticeship courses will cover mandatory units, which are mostly covered by completing qualifications and a portfolio. Please note that the units will be assessed via exams for the apprenticeships in accountancy. Duration and Attendance You will spend most of your time in the workplace employed as an apprentice. You will be expected to attend one day a week for the knowledge section of the apprenticeships and additional functional skills classes unless you already have prior accreditation. Duration 15-24 months depending on the level you study. At the end of the apprenticeship there will be an end point assessment which will need to be passed to complete the qualification. This may be in the form of a portfolio, completion of the relevant qualification and interview.
