Electrical Installation Level 1 This course includes basic knowledge and craft skills of electrical installation.
This course is designed to give you an introduction to electrical installation. The qualification has mandatory and optional units. You will spend one day a week in our specialist practical workshops, developing the hand skills and techniques necessary for successful progression to a relevant Level 2 course of your chosen specialism (often electrical installation). You will spend the rest of your time gaining the essential theoretical knowledge which will underpin your future career and study choices. Many electricians progress to design, consultancy, teaching and management, making the building services industry a career with a wide range of future pathways. Qualification EAL Level 1 Diploma in Electrical Installation Duration One year Course Content The mandatory units cover health and safety, environmental protection, installation methods, practical craft skills and electrical science. Optional units cover starting work in construction, preparing for an interview, managing study and developing learning skills. The Level 1 Diploma is assessed through written and practical centre-marked assignments, and online examinations. All full-time students are required to study maths and English at the appropriate level. Please see page 6 for more details.

Entry Requirements • No formal entry qualifications are required. However, students will be expected to have achieved at least GCSE Grade 3 in English and maths by the end of the course in order to be able to progress to the L2 Electrical Installation course the following year. • All applicants will undergo an initial assessment in literacy and numeracy • Places will be offered following a satisfactory interview • Applicants will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the chosen subject area
