Abstract This article is based on the study which was aimed to describe second-year nursing students’ evaluation of the supervision process and the psychosocial learning environment in clinical placement on medical and surgical nursing in Tartu Health Care College. Data for this quantitative research study were collected in the spring 2015, using a 4-point Likert Scale questionnaire that included also three open questions. The sample consisted of second-year nursing students (n=74) who had completed one of the above mentioned clinical placements. The results indicated that students evaluate the supervision process and training conditions in general positively, despite the fact that there are some areas that need development. Supervision of the performance of nursing procedures was evaluated most highly among all elements of the supervision process; less than three-fourths of the respondents received constructive feedback from their supervisor during the placement. Occurrence of discussions with the supervisor on ethical issues was the least valued element. The results of analysis suggested that all the elements of the supervision process were interlinked which confirms that the elements are interrelated and influence one other. Keywords: clinical practice, clinical learning environment, clinical supervision, mentoring. 276
