Abstract The aim of the current study was to evaluate the immediate and long-term post-therapy effects of low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field (LfPEMF) therapy on health-related quality of life in subjects with gonarthrosis. 3 patients with gonarthrosis, aged between 59–73 years, entered the study and 2 of them completed the study. During the 3-week LfPEMF therapy period 9 procedures were carried out on the knee region with the frequency of 15 Hz, magnetic flux density of 14.4 mT (Easy Terza Serie, ASA, Italy). One procedure lasted for 20 minutes. Lower extremity-specific health-related quality of life was measured using the LEFS (Lower Extremity Functional Scale) and disease-specific health-related quality of life was measured using the WOMAC scale (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Index) before and after the 9th LfPEMF procedure, and also on the 4th week after completion of therapy. It was concluded that after the 3-week LfPEMF therapy the disease-specific health-related quality of life improved on the basis of WOMAC total score in the subjects with gonarthrosis, the lower extremity-specific health-related quality of life improved on the basis of LEFS total score in two subjects and there 51
