Most of the participants in the project, at least in the first moments after the bombings, did not regret the nuclear tragedy of August 1945, considering that the two nuclear attacks in Hiroshima and Nagasaki hastened Japan's capitulation, shortened World War II and saved millions of lives. Many of those involved in the Manhattan project had lifelong rebukes of conscience for their involvement in the project, even though they admitted it was more than necessary. It is known today that Robert Oppenheimer allegedly told President Truman that his hands were stained with blood. What's worse, as many 12th graders noticed after studying the Nuclear Physics chapter, is that the Pandora's box was opened through the Manhattan Project and it went on to make other nuclear weapons so it's a continuum competition between higher and lower powers, worldwide, to own as many and more destructive nuclear weapons. The unanswered question from long-dead scientists is whether they would have worked on such a weapon if they had known about the upcoming arms race. Bibliography Cynthia C. Mărturii ale unor supraviețuitori din ghetoul orădean Prof. Klementina Ardelean Liceul Teoretic „Ady Endre” Oradea Istoria oraşului Oradea este strâns legată de prezenţa comunităţii evreieşti pe aceste meleaguri, care și-a adus o contribuţie majoră la dezvoltarea urbei delimitate de râul Crișul Repede și părâul Peța1. De-a lungul existenței, aceasta a trecut prin mai multe faze, trecând de la așezarea în acest areal, la întemeierea unei solide comunităţi cu toate instituţiile specifice, integrarea ei în viaţa oraşului, asimilarea culturii şi valorilor locale, prezenţa proeminentă în viaţa economică, socială și culturală şi, ulterior, abruptul sfârşit, însemnând exterminarea fizică, care într-o clipă a şters tot ce s-a făurit în sute de ani de istorie. Poetul Ady Endre, care s-a format la Oradea, scria despre evrei următoarele: „Oraşul acesta, cu mulţimea sa de evrei, este ca şi cum cineva, în loc să pună dospeală în făină, ar fi pus un pumn de făină în dospeală; pâinea a crescut, aluatul a ieşit din coş; evreii din Oradea au înălţat oraşul 1
