Me gusta la historia literally means ‘History is pleasing to me’, so History is the subject of the sentence.
d
To say which subjects you like or dislike, we use the verb gustar. With the verb gustar (to like), the subject of the sentence is what is being liked.
We use just two forms of the verb gustar in the present tense: gusta and gustan. When the subject of the sentence (what is being liked) is singular or a verb, we use gusta, but if the subject of the sentence is plural, we use gustan. So the verb gusta or gustan always agrees with what comes after it in a sentence. singular noun/infinitive plural noun
Me gusta el fútbol ................. I like football. Me gustan los perros ............ I like dogs.

When gustar is followed by a verb, that second verb must be in the infinitive form. For example, Me gusta aprender idiomas. The verb gustar is always preceded by an indirect object pronoun (me, te, le, nos, os, les). If a person or people are named before the indirect object pronoun, the name of the person or people must be preceded by a. gusta/gustan
